Has anyone ever had to go to court?

Published

I was just wondering. We had an inservice recently about charting, and one of our administrators told us about when she was working as a charge nurse in a local hospital. One of her patients became septic and died on her shift, and the hospital was sued. She had to go to court, and she read us some of the transcript and it was HORRIBLE. I don't think I could have stood up under that kind of pressure, and I just pray it never happens to me. Has it happened to any of yall?

I have been named twice. And I have always carried my own insurance. In the first case, I was soon dropped. In the second one, the judge dismissed the suit with prejudice. I have testified in numerous cases both civil and criminal. I always reviewed my notes prior to testifing.

When you were questioned, did they ask you if you had your own personal ?

I would hope I would have a lawyer on my side (like the one that comes with my liability ins) who would interupt/object and ask why the questrion was relevent to the suit.
