Has anyone ever been accused of elderly abuse and never done anything? I'm curious to hear stories

Nope. Never. Though I work in an ICU so its not like a nursing home type situation. Have you been accused of elder abuse?

He*ll to the NO! And pray I am never around, if you do! It will not be pretty. Elders deserve the best treatment possible. They are vulnerable, they have fought in wars, raised kids and grandkids, they have worked 30 plus years, they were camp conselors, girl and boy scout leaders, teachers, nurses, doctors, activist, housewives, church leaders, civic leaders and everything else this country stands for. It is now time for them to be pampered, respected and listened to! They shouldn't have a worry in the world. Not money, not food, not medicine and housing. But mostly, they should not fear being abused. In any shape, way or form. Peace!

Yes, by a "manager" whom I had found doctoring charts and billing for supplies not used and caught having an affair with another nurse. Thought it would take care of all his problems. But the BON in my state investigated and found no wrong doing on my part. The accusation triggered a unit/facility audit and all sorts of things came to light. Karma is a harsh mistress if you don't treat her right. WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. I actually stopped working LTC, which I love and am very good at, because I was so burnt. Better after that those who started the mess were caught and paid for their nastiness, but it was an ordeal for my family.
I am sorry you had to go through that. I know how traumatizing it is and hope the memory and the visceral response decreases in time. Peace!

Yes by a resident's husband years ago. The resident was pretty much a vegetable so she couldn't say anything. The husband was nuts. The resident had a shoulder popped out of joint mysteriously on a shift I never work, on a day I was off. Then she went to the hospital and her other shoulder got popped out of joint there. Obviously I wasn't even there. But for some reason the husband decided I was responsible. He used to chase me up and down the hallway yelling about how I was an abuser of the elderly. It was horrible. Obviously I wasn't responsible for it so my DON and the administrator didn't take it seriously. I wasn't even allowed in the room to take care of her roommate. It was so embarrassing. Then after 2 weeks he suddenly was asking me (in front of all the people he accused me of being abusive to) why I hadn't taken care of his wife in weeks when he knew "How much she loves when you take care of her.":confused:
Crazy old man.
