Hello! I am graduating on October 1st and my school is i telling us not to expect to sit for boards until the end of the year at best. They say that the OBON is really backed up right now. Has anyone else heard this? I was really hoping to be working sometime in November, but if this is the case...I gotta get a job! Thanks in advance for any responses!

Yes, my class was told the same thing. I just graduated Aug. 23 and we were told to expect to test in a couple of months. I guess NCLEX testing centers are behind as well. As of two weeks ago, out of the people who graduated from my school in June, only one had taken the NCLEX. I sent in all of my paperwork, to register for the NCLEX and also paperwork to Columbus for my license. I got an email yesterday form NCLEX saying that I'm registered with them. I have to wait for the board to get everything completed. They have to complete their part and send me what I need to regiester for NCLEX. I got on their website yesterday (OBN) and there was a message saying they were backlogged. Go to www.nursing.ohio.gov When I was fingerprinted I was told it could take up to 8 weeks for the FBI background check! She told me it didn't usually take that long tho. I graduated the end of August and we were told to expect to take the NCLEX around the end of Oct.

I graduated on June 14th and took my boards on July 24th-- there was a cancellation so I got in quicker!
Some of my friends who I graduated with haven't even taken theirs yet.

So it sounds like you got your ATT really fast. That is what I am really worried about. There are some people that graduated my program on 5/29 that just got to take their test this month. The school keeps telling us it is because they have to send our background checks off again and that the board is backed up. When I go to the OBON site it does say that they are really busy. I just really hope that I don't have to wait until December to test! I graduate on the 1st of October!

Ah...isn't it nice to live here in good ole Ohio...This makes alot of sense...right...there's a nursing shortage going on, hospitals are staffed poorly having many openings and we have people READY AND WILLING TO TAKE THE LICENSING EXAM AND THEY CAN'T DO IT BECAUSE THE OBN IS BACKLOGGED! UGH! If I were you girls/guys I would be calling the governor's office daily complaining along with your state representative and senator.

I graduated in June, completed my registration with OBON the first of July, got my ATT in early September, and couldn't schedule my test until September 25th. I took it then and found out Friday I passed!
So it basically took me 3 months to actually take the test . One piece of advice - do you fingerprinting ASAP, because it can take 4-6 weeks to be processed. Also, don't bother calling the OBON because THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE! I finally went in to the office because my application had been pending for TWO MONTHS!
Good luck! :loveya:

I graduated in May but I just passed my boards last week. Of course it was my own fault that I changed my mind from moving to CA to staying in OH, but the wait has been rediculous finding a job. My advice while you are waiting...find a job NOW and don't wait until you pass your boards. And by get a job...call recruiters and show up at hospitals being persistant.

I had some problems getting the Board to authorize me too--called and left numerous messages and emails--but I called my state representative and one of his assistants called the board. Bottom line is, I called the next morning and got straight through to a human and got my ATT within a week! Use the state reps---that's what they're there for!

Many of you have been mentioning finger prints. I grad May 10, 2009, will my school fingerprint us? I just don't wanna wait til forever to take my boards. And Congrats to all of you!!!
I had to go to my school's main campus to be fingerprinted. Don't know if all schools offer this or not.

I already have an IN lic but just took a new part time job across the state line in OH---my new hiring mgr told me it would only take a few weeks to get my Oh lic??? I have yet to even get my fingerprints!! now I am a bit freaked out by what everyone on this post is saying.
Will say this though---the Indiana process is MUCH easier than the OH process, our application is 2 small pages and when I graduated I sent my info off to the state on Dec 30th and Jan 2nd had my ATT. I took Nclex 2nd week of Jan. The entire process start to finish was less than 2 weeks!
