I found this site last night just surfing around. Interesting, to say the least.....

http://www.questionabledoctors.org/

Wow, I saw a doctor i know on that list, he's one of our ER docs. I wish i knew what he did to get on that list, I gave my real name and e-mail. I wish I hadn't now, I never know what sights to trust.

Specializes in ORTHOPAEDICS-CERTIFIED SINCE 89.

Cotton pickin' my state isn't on the list....tee hee....But you can go to the labor licensing and regulation site and see the entire state's public and private reprimands in any profession that's licensed. All the "good stuff" is there. PM me and I'll give you the URL

And just 'cause someone got sued is NOT proof they are questionable.

Specializes in OR,ER,med/surg,SCU.

thanks deespoohbear====for the site. Arouses ones curiosity, however it is so true that one being sued is not proof of being a questionable MD.

Specializes in CVOR,CNOR,NEURO,TRAUMA,TRANSPLANTS.

Well I looked into the state I was trained in Alabama and I was floored when I saw 2 of the Best Drs on the list.... I did look to see if that Dr I had a problem with was on the list but Nebraska wasnt on the available states...

This site should be posted everyday on the NYTimes.

Yeah, I passed a disclaimer on there somewhere that stated that yadda yadda yadda.... while they try to keep it updated, many of these issues could have been minor, resolved, or not found to be valid. So we'll never know.

Unless, of course, we fork over our credit card numbers.

I visited the site after reading some article or other on it. I didn't subscribe b/c WA isn't included in the database--but I would subscribe in a heartbeat if that changes. I don't have a problem with the site charging for what is otherwise "public information". The "public information" is out there, but it's awfully difficult to locate, which is why the site is so helpful, since it puts all the info in one place.

I have to agree with the MCA 'fraud' thing...a really terrific neurosurgeon, the guy who treated my brain tumour, was busted on fraud charges. I don't know if he did it or not, but I don't believe he did anything different from any other physician at any other teaching hospital out there. I think he was the unfortunate guy chosen to be an 'example', so that the public would think something was actually being done about Medicare/Medicaid waste and failures.

Meanwhile, I can think of a half-dozen docs offhand who make a living by providing quasi-bogus diagnoses of back problems for patients involved in worker's comp and auto claims. Are these guys likely to be disciplined, ever? Nope, but I still wouldn't come near them with a ten-foot stick.

I don't plan on shelling out money either. I figure if I want to know bad enough, I will just call the medical licensing board in Indiana. I sure do know a couple of docs who should have been on it though!!!
