Has anyone attended TCC ADN program???

I am curious of how time consuming the clinicals can be once you are accepted into their program? I know that a lot of them may be held during the day but I was curious of anyones personal experiences. Also, how long did it take for you to get accepted and with what credentials?

In advance, thanks for your replies.

I just got accepted to TCC's program for this fall. The actual clinical times vary from either 6:30 a.m. to 12:00 or 1 to 7 p.m. twice a week and then theory classes are on alternating days with a skills lab once a week. From what I understand, there is quite a bit of prep time for each course, especially clinical because you have to pick your patient and devise a care plan. I have friends in the program and it appears to be fairly time consuming but there are people working and going to school and doing fine. You must have your pre-req's done in order to be competitive with others in the applicant pool. I applied 3 times and got in on the third try. Here's a link to the nursing department web page for more info.

Yeah, I'm already registered for some of the pre-reqs. Did you take all of the pre-reqs prior to applying? It also said that you can be awarded additional points for taking some non-accredited courses. (Intro. to Health Professions, Demensional Analysis and Medical Terminology for Nursing) Did you take any of these? Also, did you have to take the TEAS prior to applying?

Thanks for the info. :)

Cool. What are you going to take? Be sure to make the absolute best grades that you can in your science courses. Yes, I finished all of them first. Because, any class that isn't completed isn't counted toward your points. They rank you on a point system and you get so many points for A's, B's, and C's, so if the course isn't completed, no points. I did take the dimensional analysis course and the intro to health professions. The dimensional analysis class will be beneficial to you. You don't have to take the TEAS until you have actually made application. You take it during the application period. The south campus book store carries a study guide which is super helpful. But don't worry about taking it until you are ready to apply. What campus are you taking your pre-req's at? I can tell you who to take over at NE. Let me know if I can help!!

I have been going to TCC now for 12 years and can give you the heads up on the teachers for any class you could ever think about taking at TCC. I have accumulated over 100 hours and will graduate this summer (general studies). It is about damn time too. Im going to Tarleton State this fall for their LVN to BSN program . You can also go to www.ratemyprofessor.com and get all kinds of info about TCC teachers.

I live in Mansfield so I will be taking the majority of my classes at the Southeast Campus. It's only about 5 minutes from my house. It'll be tough thought because I work full time in Dallas and average 2 - 3 hours of driving time each day. I'll manage though.

In Summer II I'll be taking Intro. to Psychology and in the Fall I am taking A&P I and probably one or two other courses. I have to look at the schedules though and make sure I don't over do it as I want to make sure I can get the grades I need to be accepted. So I am assuming that you you live in the HEB area since you were asking about the NE campus.

Cool, thanks for the info. Have you attended at each of the campuses? How much do you know about the Southeast campus?

You know what, I saw in the handbook that they offer some Internet Courses and ITV courses. Have you taken any of them? How are they?

I have taken 3 years of Internet classes and ITV courses. I never take math online so ,I will be going to the SE campus Summer 2 for Algebra and to the NW for PE:barf01: . I have taken classes on every campus, but most on the south campus. You can take all your classes online except Micro and Chem at TCC. A&P 1,2 is taken online with D Foote at the NE campus. You take lecture online, but I think now you can take lab online as well. I took it in 2003 but I had to go to lab. I went and took chem and micro on campus during the summer 04. Are you just taking classes for your ADN or BSN as well? I would stay clear of ITV classes they are not hard but you have very little direction and teacher interaction. Internet is the way to go. I love the SE campus but it is just a far drive for me. I live in Joshua and I have to fight the traffic. But I will be there in summer 2 ,I follow the good teachers around like a puppy dog.

I'm in Richland Hills just 10 minutes from the NE campus. I've taken almost all my classes there and several online and ITV as well. Most of the distance learning classes are easy. It's nice because you don't have to worry about being on campus for a class. You just get it in when you have the time. A definite plus for sure. I don't know anyone out at Southeast campus except for Lisa Blacman who teaches nutrition.

I have only taken comp 2and English lit on the SE campus , both A&P 1,2 on the NE campus, Concepts of PE:barf01: on the NW campus and everything else on the South campus. But you know when you take internet classes the teacher could be at any campus and you have to go there to test. That is how I ended up at the NW campus with online PE:barf01: Most of the internet courses have been fairly straight forward but easy. the exception here is comp 1 and 2 . These are two mind bottling classes that require mountains of time. Online PE:barf01: is just a 1 hour class but it took just if not more time than my comp 2 class. Have you taken alot of online classes at TCC? We probably have had classes together. What are you taking now?

Isn't the NE campus off of Precinct Line? I used to work in the Pro Cuts building just passed the campus. Not for Pro Cuts but for PrimeLending which is a mortgage company. I am not working in our corporate office off of Frankford and Preston in Dallas. I have alot of driving to do.............Not fun at all.

I haven't taken any online courses yet. I was wanting to ask someone about them that had taken them first so I'm glad to get info from you and Katy in regards to this. I'll definetley look into those. I am starting my first classes this Summer II semester at SE Campus. This is what I'm taking for Summer II...

07/13/2005-08/18/2005 Lecture 1 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 05:50PM - 07:50PM, SE E Wing Classrooms, Room 1222

The instructor is Essie Ndokwu. Do you know who that is by any chance?

BTW - I take it you don't like PE that much? :)
