Hello Future Nurses,
I am thinking of applying for the Hartnell College Nursing program for next Fall 2017.
For anyone that has applied in the past how hard is it to get admitted to the program?
Thanks

Many years ago the Hartnell program had an excellent reputation. My dad, who wasn't even a nurse, encouraged me to apply there. It was competitive then, and I am assuming, if like most other places, it is probably even more competitive today. If you are accepted, you will be ahead of the game. I don't know how it is today, but back then, they were known for failing approximately half of each class. Those who graduated, though, had no problem getting jobs in the local area where it was known for very few open nursing positions. Good luck.
Buyer beware, BSN

OP,
Hartnell College is a two year school in Salinas, California. Salinas and its eponymous river is well known in the novel of " Mice and Men" by John Steinbeck. I personally like that connection.
At $8,326 per year or there abouts in tuition, it is priced right in today's hyperinflated college marketplace.
Since it is a two year school if you go to (collegescorecard.ed.gov) you will see graduation and tuition rates that seem low.
But Hartnell being a CC is a place that people attend that want to get their academic feet wet without having to spend 3x that amount per year being loaned up, exploited and dropped like a hot potato in a for-profit. Those schools have even lower grad and retention rates.
So you are doing the right thing by seriously considering this school.
Just be diligent with your studies and be one of the graduates "caliotter" is and talks about.
