Hard time finding a new grad residency

Published

Is anybody finding it difficult to find a new grad residency as well? I have applied to about 90-100s of job positions but rarely heard anything back. It's so discouraging since I have a good resume and haven't had more than two interviews

How has the hunt gone since this post? I will be graduating in May of this year and I am anxious about being able to find a spot here in Socal.

Same. I graduated in may. Very discouraged at this point and may go out of state

I'm only an ADN, but since my hospital cancelled my entire residency, I cannot even get interviews for CNA/PCT positions in acute care in the LA area.

Combined with the fact that my per diem job is curtailing my hours below what I can live off of, this is honestly devastating, as I've already begun my BSN in-state and cannot leave the area even if I wanted to.

I feel so lied too, school told us that it will be insanely easy to find a job straight out of school. Maybe for experienced nurses it is easy, but new grads? No.
😞

I too have had a hard time securing a position in a residency program. probably 100 applications at this point and 2 unsuccessful interviews. Graduated in May but hoping and praying that the wait will be worth it once I finally get a position

I have also had a hard time getting into a new grad program- graduated in December 2024 and got my license in February 2025. If I had known that getting a job as a new grad would have been this tough, I would have applied to be a CNA or extern while attending nursing school. I was under the impression that as long as I had a BSN it would've been easy... perhaps I haven't done well enough in the interviews I did get but still.

couplet care, NICU, and surgical/trauma were the units I interviewed for. I have an interview lined up for a post-acute care facility soon. for the upcoming new grad programs, I'll apply to the med surg / tele units and hopefully have better luck with those units. how has the job hunt been for you so far?
