SoCal Providence RN Residency Program - Feb 2026 Cohort
I did my preceptorship at a Providence hospital and didn't even get an interview, LOL, despite being well-liked and hounded by the educator on the floor I precepted on to apply. From briefly emailing her, it sounded like your application has to pass through HR before they can get a say on whether you should be moved forward. That's actually hugely encouraging. The vast majority of hospitals will not hire RNs as PCTs on principle--all of my applications after I got my license were auto-rejected, and I had been a tech for over five years at that point.

LA General New Grad Program 2025
Hi! Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and I believe are technically still open. County has been on a hiring freeze since March of last year, which extended to new grads in August, and has not been lifted yet. From what I understand, there has been no actual new grad cohort, strictly speaking, since March last year, though I stand to be corrected. I was told that you work in your hired department doing basic tasks without taking on the full care of actual patients, although this obviously may differ by department. If you apply, you'll take a test and get a banding tier, which will make you eligible for any positions which incidentally open up in specific departments. I have been contacted every few months or so since I got banded in July, I think I have gotten four emails thus far. From what I understand, the interview slots fill up quick, and it's competitive to land the position once you are interviewed.

The hiring freeze has not been lifted yet. They're replacing positions that open up here and there with RN Is on the list is what I have been told, but they are still not in general hiring new nurses or taking on any new cohort of new grads.

Oh, yeah, that's why we were confused, LOL. There's a separate thread for UCLA-Harbor somewhere if you search for it, they might have more information.

Are you talking about the one in November, or was this email sent out more recently? If so, which departments? Thanks!

SoCal Providence RN Residency Program - Feb 2026 Cohort
Yeah : \ It seems like connections are the predominant factor, overall. Everything else is moreso a wildcard at this point. I just know that in my ADN program's cohort, _absolutely_ nobody has gotten an interview without some prior connection beforehand, even people with stellar resumes.

Yeah, this isn't as true for some of the Providence hospitals. I knew a few in my school who had gotten offers from Providence hospitals we had never done clinicals at.

Same for my school, which is what I was saying: you need to have connections first in order for your application to be read by an actual human and picked out of the system, so it doesn't get weighted against BSN applicants by ATS trackers.

I do. LinkedIn tells you who visits your profile, and as far as I know, only one possible employer has ever looked at mine. I'm in a similar boat as you. The issue seems to be that there is no human who actually looks at your resume if you simply submit it, and it seems as though BSNs are prioritized over ADNs no matter what the circumstances are. The only headway I've made is when I've personally reached out and ensured that someone has taken a look at my application with their own eyes. It's funny to see the looks of interest on hiring managers' faces when they read over my resume in person, because my application has otherwise been uniformly rejected when submitted online. Unfortunately, from speaking to some managers, it seems as though at some hospitals that being processed through their ATS system and being marked as eligible is a requisite for them to select us, no matter how much they want to hire us. Disappointing, but hopefully the BSN will open doors when we receive them.

Hi, It took me about a month to get a decision, but it said in my email that you can contact recruiting ten business days after your interview to follow up. I have a question for you: how did you receive an interview? Did the department contact you individually for one? I was just curious, as I believe the hiring freeze was continued beyond January and is still currently in effect.

Same boat with regard to Santa Monica, moose—external applicant, ADN and in my last semester for BSN, but otherwise did many clinicals and my preceptorship there with everything else straight, and no invite. Nurses and the director of the floor I had precepted on had said they were "excited to have me,” but obviously, their new system must be pretty stringent and number of applicants relatively high. I didn't bother with any other location, because I hadn't been reached to by anyone I didn't already have a connection with yet. My mistake, perhaps!

Kaiser SoCal New Grad residency 2026
Are you saying there's a points-based rubric and that level of education determines the amount of points allotted to a candidate? Disappointing if so, because it doesn't seem plausible for there to be an ADN candidate who could somehow excel in all the other categories in the way any BSN candidate would not as well. I know of two people in my ADN program who got new grad offers from Kaiser, and they were both model students similar to you, though I'm only sure that one graduated with their BSN concurrently. Our program is also pretty intimate with Kaiser, though, which is a big advantage, so it does seem as though it's those who can check off every box who are the truly competitive candidates.

That's good news, I suppose!

Weren't they supposed to be verifying career snapshots a few weeks ago soon after the applications closed anyway? It sounds like the facilities are running late...

I remember them saying something like this about the LOR from a Kaiser employee, but not any of the other documents. I'm sorry, that is pretty arbitrary given that the confusion was clarified.
