Is there anyone who has been accepted to the Harcum Evening nursing program for 2010?
Hi Clammbo,How is the program? Did you guys lose anyone in your class? Any advice you can give us newbies?
How are clinicals? Do you get to pick the hospital?
Thanks,
KC
The program Hmmmm........Did we lose anybody? Yes we started with close to 80 people in nursing 101, we lost about 22 people just from that class alone. The first 6 weeks (nursing 101) is really crazy. Advice....let me be honest here, if you have never worked in a hospital or with Patients this may not/is not the program for you.
Clinicals, well........Hospitals, yes you get to pick your hospital, there is like a choice of 5
[color=#000]hi,
i spoke to the nursing program today about ati and not to be sarcastic but it is what it is. a lot of schools are doing the ati testing. drexel in particular is the same way for the ace program and they want to make sure we pass the boards on the first try so their stats are not affected by unprepared students. i know for a fact that drexel will not let you take your boards until you pass the ati exit with a 90% or so. you can read about it yourself and how some of those students are having to do remedial work. harcum needs to overcome their provisional status and low pass rate and if this is their way of doing it then so be it good for them. no one is forced to attend harcum.. hey we are going to be nurses:nurse: dealing with people's lives and that should not be taken lightly. we all need to be prepared and i will do whatever it takes to pass those boards especially on the first try. good luck..

i know i may be too late with this post because you may have already started the evening nursing program.....drexel and harcum are 2 different programs........first let me start by saying yes drexel makes you past the hesi before being able to take the nclex, but you can take the hesi as many times as you want.....harcums new policy states if you fail the exit exam twice you are asked to take an alternative degree, which means if you dont get a 72% on the exit exam on your second try, you can not take the nclex. so how do you become a rn? you have to go to nursing school all over again, and pay all over again. so i can only imagine the look on a persons face who takes the exit exam for the second time and gets a 70%....although according to ati if you get a 70 on the exit exam you have an 88% chance of passing the nclex.....good luck.
