Harcum College Evening Nursing Program 2014

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Anyone else on here get accepted to Harcum College's evening nursing program? If so, anyone else concerned with the current accreditation status, site warning status, etc?

I had two people I interviewed with they were very nice they asked me why I wanted to be a Nurse and asked me some informal questions about why I thought Harcum would be a good fit. Be honest and you will do fine.

Hasn't classes started already? Don't give up. I understand it is a commute but you will have the summer off and breaks. A lot of nursing schools you go straight through.[/quote

My classes started this past Monday I'm in the evening program. Its for 18months

I'm a recent graduate of Harcum Nursing program Dec '13. I worked full time, managed a household, and kids. Its not easy, but it can be done. I passed my NCLEx in 78 questions first time, and recently got hired at a hosptial. Like any school you get out of it what you put into it! I basically put my social lfe on hold. I missed many of family parties, my kids sports games, etc because I had to study, but honestly the next 18 months go by very quickly.

My suggestions are sit up front (the back of the class tends to get very noisey and you can be easily distracted), go to the teachers if you dont understand, don't be shy to ask questions during lecture. They are a great group of teachers that want to see you succeed. When you are in clinical always be willing to help out example load the contact precaution cart, ask to watch procedures 9even if its just preparing an IV) you might think its being pushy, but the floor nurses love it! Network as much as possible these are the places you will be looking at for future employment. I landed my job through my clinical. Good Luck!

That's awesome! Congrats! I love hearing success stories :)

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement. This journey I know is going to be very difficult so I really appreciate your post because I too have children and I have wanted to be a nurse for a very long time. Raising a family while going to school is so difficult Harcum makes it possible for me to try and have some type of school/work/family balance. I do not think I will work the first semester. I keep hearing horror stories about the first semester is what makes and breaks you.

Did you have your interview yet? How did it go?
