Happy Nurses Day to all of you here who continue to teach me, aggravate me, inform me, and make me ever respectful of what tough, resourceful ladies and gentlemen we are in the nursing profession.

I saw into today's paper, that nurses rank high on burn out scales and are frustated by care issues and ever increasing loads. That's not news if you come here very much, but here we see that nurses persevere.

Also, yesterday in church, our priest pointed out during the sermon that ALL service professions--priests, nuns, teachers and nurses--are having trouble with recruitment. He suggested that this is due to a general reluctance to serve others. As we all know here service comes at a cost. That cost is paid by us, our families, those that we would spend time with if we had time and energy left over after horrendous shifts. I am grateful to all of you who cared enough to become educated in this service profession. Thank yourself and congratulate yourself...for tomorrow we return to the trenches.
