Hair Test

With all these "special tests", has anyone been getting selected for a hair test? I would like to to know if I need to start preparing myself for a $300 test.

Does anyone know how far of a look back the affinity hair test goes?

It goes back 90 days. In TN, they use USDTL for their hair tests

I’m TNPAP, we get two hair tests a year and two blood PeTH tests a year, regardless of what substance we abused. So far I’ve had one hair and one blood. I’ve been in my program almost a year now and I expect to be hit with both tests in a very short period of time ? . They’re so expensive!

Yes, 90 days. It's called Matrix testing, I believe. Cutting hair short won't help, it's in the Matrix of the hair shaft itself.

Do you live in Florida? How many nail tests have you had and why? I haven't heard of anyone having that.

In Florida, we get nail tests if enough hair isn't available, or vice versa. Only on evals have I seen them take both from me.

That’s horrible. I can’t believe you have to have two hair tests a year. I’m at the end of my contract with about 6 weeks left and they seem to be getting everyone with a hair test at the end. My friend was just released from the program but not before they sucked another $475 in tests from her within ONE WEEK!!!! Oh, and I’m in Florida.

What does blood test test for and how far back does it go?

Blood tests for everything including ETOH. The good news is that it’s used more for detecting current use meaning it doesn’t stay in your blood for very long. ETOH stays in your blood for about 10-12 hrs, amphetamines stay in your blood for about 9-14 hrs, opiates about 24 hrs or less, and barbiturates about 1-2 days

Blood tests can detect etoh use (binge and chronic use) for weeks. It’s a Peth test and doesn’t look for the etoh itself but that which is left after consumption I think I had three so far or about one a year
