H4 visa and NCLEX

Published

Hi ,

I am on a H4 visa which does not allow me to have a social security number in US but permits me to go to school here. My question is whether I can give the NCLEX exam in california without having to submit the social security number? As of now the website states that forms without the SSN will not be processed. I am getting my prerequisites done at present and am hopeful of getting in to the nursing program this fall. I dont want to complete the nursing program only to find out I cannot give the exam.

PLS HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks.

You will be able to sit for the exam, just like any other foreign nurse, you just will not receive your license until you can give the BON a Socail Secuirty Number. It is done all of the tiem, or you can take the exam for NY, get your lciense, then endorse to California or where ever you would like to work.

California will only give you a letter that you passed the NCLEX exam, and then you have three years to get the SSN# to them to actually issue you a license.

Until you have completed a nursing course you can't sit NCLEX but can be done on H4 as well as F1 but be also aware of Retrogression. Best speak to the schools education advisor on whether you need to change visa or not
