Posted this by the way because there are certain people or agencies that has been saying that this visa can be used by RNs and PNs.
I made a separate thread on what the H2B is for and is not absolutely for jobs that are continuous but only for seasonal, temporary, or peak load ones.
Also, USCIS received more than the Cap allowable so they will again do the lottery and reject and return the application forms and fees to those that will not be randomly picked by the compute. Same thing what they did w/ the H1B last April, 2007.
Please read the official documents above from USCIS. USCIS already said that it is closed. H2B is only allowed every 6 mos. Only on Jan. and July. The last one being done in just 1 filing day. The next filing date is in July 2008 but this is for jobs after Oct. 2008 The ones who will be approved in those who filed last Jan. 2 are the ones who can work before Oct 2008.
The final receipt date for those intending to work before Oct. 2008 was in the Jan. 2 date as stated on USCIS' memo. The next filing date will be on July 2008 ONLY and it is expected that it will be closed as well in just 1 day because of the strong demand. The H2B is not filed all year round and anytime.
And again the H2B is not usually for RNs and PNs as this is a continuous job.
Hi All,
I was searching for an H2B job starting 2009 season and found this website
They have a database of H2B visa sponsors including nursing. I was wondering if anyone here has accessed and used that database?
Thanks
You can check all that you want, the issue is that most employers are unable to sponsor with that type of visa as well. And the requirements to even qualify for one, if they were able to, are quite strict. The majority do not even meet the requirements.
First and foremost, you must hold at least a BSN and be hired for a job that requires that for an entry level position. Most jobs here in the US do not require the BSN in the first place, and even more so for the ones that will employ a foreign nurse as well.

USCIS has just announced that the H2B Cap has been reached on Jan. 2, 2008 and will be rejecting all new petitions for workers seeking employment start date before Oct. 1, 2008 (start of a new fiscal year).
So, there goes the H2B visa to be able to work for this year. Please be careful if some will still offer H2B Visas for this fiscal year. It is closed.
