Gwinnett Tech School packets

Published

Hey everyone. I went to buy a newer stethoscope to start practicing vitals again( I did CNA cert). It was $16. I didn't want to invest in a much more expensive one since I am not sure what is in our school packets. When do we receive them? Do they supply us with scrubs, steth/BP kit, etc? What all is in the packet? I am trying to save fin aid for the program and things like background check, any vaccines I might need and TB exam. Any additional info would be great. Im taking Kaplan at Brenau to see what Kaplan is like to narrow my focus on anatomy, writing and math. Im sure reading is the same around the board. Then I will have another month or so to study for March GTC Kaplan. Any advice is greatly appreciated

If you want a BP cuff you will have to purchase it but it isn't required.

I'm currently in my 2nd semester of nursing school. The nursing bag you receive will only contain the supplies needed for lab (syringes, etc). You have to buy your own stethoscope, scissors, pen light, etc.

okay, thanks for the info. do they supply a list of what you need to purchase?

Yes, they'll let you know what you need.

thank you so much for your fast replies!!! you are awesome! Do you have any tips for Kaplan? I haven't had the time I've wanted to study a ton of ANP so I'm taking the test at Brenau to know more what it will be like. Thanks again!

The math is basic algebra, very similar to what they show in all the Kaplan or teas study guides. The English portion is pretty much like they show in the study guide also. There's not really any way to study for that portion. The science part is all A&P. I used my A&P notes and book to study for it.

So for anatomy do I need to focus on all 5 chapters s in neurology or specific sections? What did you do to study homeostasis? Endocrine system? The paper with the list of systems we get wasn't detailed on if endocrine was there

Anyone know how long the program is at GTC? The website showing the program information says 5 semesters, but the example shows 4 semesters. Just curious if anyone has gotten some clarity on that.

The program lasts for 5 semesters, but you only actually take classes for 4. They don't do classes in the summer.

Any idea what the 5th semester is for?

It takes 5 semesters to complete but you actually only take classes 4 semesters. You go Fall and Spring then get the summer off, then go Fall and Spring of the second year and graduate.
