Gwinnett Tech: Fall 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Anyone applying to nursing school for Fall 2019? I will be starting the first of my 3 prereqs in Jan 2018 and would love to speak with others who are in the same boat.

Thanks in advance.

Hey ladies checking in on how progress is going with everything. Still on track? A/P I is just as hard as I remember but still have a B and halfway there- no chances of giving up now. Anyone still there?

Hey there yes. I have an A in A/P 1. It's not easy but it's interesting and I'm working really hard. Now lab is a different story. I failed the midterm so now Im down to a C. I can probably get it up to a B. Very disappointed.

I know what you mean. I have recently found the value in study groups. I studied for an A for the lab midterm but ended up with an 88 (which killed my spirit but I accepted). I am so ready for this semester to be over but on the Micro after that. We can make it! We can do this! I hope

I haven't found a group but I have someone from my lab that is helpful and I've gotten help from people in the lab and stem center. It would be nice to find a stable group that is committed though.

I am looking forward to microbiology this summer. I opted to do A/P 2 in the fall. It seemed to make sense.

Hi Guys,

I am applying for the Fall 2019 start date. I am a post-bac student and I hope to start next year. I have everything finished, but I want to know if anyone had taken a CLEP exam to get credit for the required courses? I am planning to CLEP out of 2103 Human Development, but I emailed Ms. Williams to make sure that is okay. The only thing I'm concerned about is health insurance while we are in the program, but I guess there is some kind of program with Kaiser for health coverage. I think the only courses I'll have left after PSYC 2103 are the nursing courses, but we will see. Good luck to everyone!

I thought about the clep test for English but I decided against it. I was concerned I might not be a strong enough writer to pass. I'll take English and Psych in the spring online but I'll be finish all my science classes so I can apply in Jan. I have the Kaiser insurance. Definitely sign up for that.

Thanks! I was hoping the Kaiser plan would be a good one. Do you know what the deductible or cost of the premiums are? Does the school help with that? I cover the health insurance for my husband and myself, so I hope that works out. He's self employed, so he doesn't have access to good health insurance.

I'm sure you'll do beautifully! I just found out I have to take Kaplan again, so I will hopefully do well on the second round. I took it too early this year for it to count.

Does anyone have an example schedule of the nursing courses? I will have everything but those by the time I start. I was thinking of trying to find a way to add a Spanish course for medical professionals. Hopefully, I can fit that in because that's something that we struggle with at my current clinic. I wish I could communicate better with our Spanish speaking patients. :)

Specializes in Pediatrics (urgent care).

Me too! I started my pre-reqs in January 2018 and am now taking my last one (A&P II) before putting in my application in January! It looks like this thread is a bit old, but I'm still so glad to have found it. How are you coming in your journey?

Put in my application this past week!! Fingers crossed!!! Good luck guys! I can't wait to see what the new year holds for all of us. :)

I put my application in today!!! Feeling very hopeful. I'm going to spend spring and summer semester doing my last 4 pre-reqs for the Georgia State RN-BSN bridge. ?

Good luck you guys! I got a C in A&P 2 which caused me to have a gpa less than 3.0. I'm so disappointed. I'm retaking the classes and will apply to the LPN program at Lanier Tech. I'll look for bridge programs. I really want to be a nurse! I don't want to wait a whole year to apply to ADN program. Trying to keep all my options open.
