Hi Everybody! I was wondering if anyone out there is part of the fall 2010 class - maybe we can get to know each other a little better before class starts in September. I was also wondering if there was anyone out there who is in the 2009 class that can give us some insight into what to expect. Any information on the program will be greatly appreciated. :)

I am in the fall 2010 ADN class as well and cannot wait to get started. I know several people who are and i will point them toward this post. When Kim sent out the last packet it had all of our email addresses and i was very tempted to send out an email to the class, but did not know what to say. I have been starving for any and all information even after we received the information packets from Kim. Neither of the packets told us very much, i thought.
I was interested to go on line to gtc-web and looked up the NUR classes for the fall (view only of course). I am not really sure how to read the information, but if i am looking at it right, with sections 1 and 2 will be taking 18 credit hours? I am paying for school as i go and that is something that i will need to prepare for. Also, the upper class NUR 2101 has a posted capacity of 33. Since it is closed enrollment, that means the class ahead of us has lost 7 people since the beginning of the program. That more than anything else has me feeling funny in the pit of my stomach. I would love to know why... was it not what the student thought it would be, where they not able to keep up with the course load, did life circumstances arise? does it make that much of a difference? Probably not, BUT i personally like to know anything and everything before i start something, and right now I do not feel like i know very much.

Hi everyone, my name is Candice, and I am also in the fall 2010 class. I'm glad you started this post. Wifeofwhiskeyg I can totally relate to the butterflies in your stomach because they're in mine too!
Okay, so I just sent messages to two of the allnurses users that are from the 2009 class. I basically invited them to visit this thread and help us out with some of these questions and concerns. Hopefully they will reply.
Great thought Candice. It would really be useful to hear from someone in the trenches.
I emailed KHG today to see if she could release the ISBN number(s) for the text(s) for NURS 1101. I haven't heard back yet, but when I do I will post it here if anyone else wants to order the books ahead of time. Has anyone else started to read through all of the GMC info and take their reading checks(quizzes)?
Wife of whiskey - I don't think it will be 18 hours of classes - just 9 as stated in the handbook. I bet it is just an error when the set it up. Let's hope anyway!
Good thinking Lisa. If you hear back, i am sure we will all be interested to hear what she says. I sent KHG an email myself inquiring into the use of lap tops/electronics during the class portion (i have read on some posts that different school do not allow recording, etc during class). She said that there were no restrictions. That is so good to hear.
Maybe we should try to get as many of us together as possible, sometime before classes start, and have lunch. Anyone else interested?
I dont know about anyone else, but i am always open to food opportunities...
