  1. people in the world dont always realize how much goes into nursing...."taking care" of people means physically, mentally, and spiritually....that family will always remember the comfort they were shown and the dignity you showed their loved one! God Bless you!
  2. it is frustrating, but i believe if your hearts not in it...your not going to make it!!! it takes a big heart to put up w/ the stress that nurses have to go thru, not to mention going thru the schooling!
  3. why not looking into an RN job at a drs office....you'd have mon-fri w/ holidays off! there are so many differt types of dr. offices to choose from...
  4. can any of you tell me what you have thought of the program so far? do you feel like the instructors/professors prepare you adequately enough to pass the test? i've had a bad experience w/ another program. i'm curious to see what you think of Gwin. now that you've been in it. thx
  5. its all about how you as a nurse respond! its about understanding, compassion, and kindness! when i was delivering my 2nd child i was mortified when i actually deficated. I cried and kept saying i'm so sorry! but i will never forget the nurse who kept saying "honey, its ok. this isn't your fault. Its part of the process and we are use to it! and it just means your about to hold that baby girl!" yes, i was still embarrassed but she was wonderful and made me feel so much better..
  6. congrats on getting into gordon. i was in gordon's program but didn't make it through. i have several friends in this sem. and they are having the same difficulties i had. its very frustrating but almost half of the students that get accepted dont make it to the next sem. and it isn't from a lack of trying or brains. try to get to know someone from the next sem. that might be willing to help you and be sure to talk w/ your instructors if you have any questions. best of luck to all of you!
  7. this is my 1st sem. at Gwinnett but i've heard nothing but great things regarding their teachers!
  8. i would love to hear from anyone who has already gotten into the program. would like to know what your thoughts are and how your doing? My past school had more than 1/2 fail out the 1st semister!
  9. i'm also working on my pre-req for the program. would love to hear from anyone in the program!
  10. my husband works the evening shift on the weekends and loves it! no upper management, and night & weekend difts are great!
  11. stress is a crippling things if you dont get a handle on it! I have to stay organized and focused! and dont be afraid to ask for help! theres no shame in that!
  12. another thing is a lot of lpns get very frustrated. they do practly the same job as an RN but w/ 1/2 the pay. your young if you can do RN, but theres always the possibility you might not get in so dont be afraid to look at the lpn and then do a bridge program. theres also a program call Excelsior. My husband did this program (Paramedic to RN). you basically study on your own, take the tests, then when youve completed the number of test required you do your clinical check off.
  13. I'm 45 yr. old. I've been a stay at home mom for 19yrs and during that time i've home schooled both my kids! Its time to begin a new season...and i'm wanting to be a RN!
  14. I am applying to the Gwinnett Program for the Fall. I recently went thru the program at Gordon and failed by a few points. I'm hoping that Gwinnett is a better experience. I didn't feel like the instructors prepared us for what was going to be on the test, hence there was a huge fail rate for the 1st semester. I know someone already in the program and she said that the gwinnett instructors do a great job preparing you and it reflects in all of their grades! thats encouraging!
  15. hi, i'm not enrolled in the program but would love more info. from the STUDENTS! point of view on how the program is...i resently went thru Gordon's program and it was a nightmare. if you hear anything pls. let me know how the prog. is.
