Guidance wanted please

hi i am a 24 year old nursing assistant who works full time for a hospital. i am supporting myself while going through school i don't have any family backing me up. i am currently working on pre reqs to get in to the rn program at the community college near where i live. after this semester i have to take microbiology, chemistry, nutrition, anatomy and physiology 1 and anatomy and physiology 2. after that i will still need to apply and get in to the nursing program.

i know that the nursing program is very competitive, there is no longer a waiting list but instead getting in to the program is based on by gpa. i would like to work full time and go to school full time. i have always wanted to try that. i am currently taking 7 credits and working full time and that seems to be going well, but the classes am in now are government and english and i understand that the science classes are far more difficult.

another option i was thinking of is taking the classes i have left two at a time. am interested in hearing from anyone who has experience with working full time while finishing the pre reqs and going through the actual program? i am also interested in hearing peoples suggestions on how i should best combine the classes i have left to take, bearing in mind i need to get a's in all of them except for chemistry which i just have to pass with a c or higher.

i don't have any kids or a boyfriend and i have no friends any more either and i am not close with my family so i have lots of time.

those are like the classes I have left to take including speech..if I were u, I would take ap1 with chemistry, ap2 with nutrition, and microbiology by itself..best of luck with whatever you decide tho :)

I totally agree with the first poster, it will be helpful to take AP1 with Chem and AP2 with Nutrition. Micro was a lot more harder for me. I worked full time while taking my pre-reqs but my job was more flexible (social work) so I can leave my job early and make up the hours during the weekend or work from home. I have one year left in my BSN program now and I work per diem in a hospital. some of my friends who completed the associates program did work full time but it was very difficult and they took longer to finish. For the BSN I could work full time some semesters but last year it was impossible (because of pharmacology, that class needed a LOT OF STUDYING/WORK!!!). You can work full time for now but try to see if they can let you be per-diem when classes start getting tough. Good luck, you CAN and WILL make it!!

i*have the*same*issue. i am trying to find out but so far everyone had said to take a science with an "easier" class such as*political*science or*something*similar. if you need a good gpa then don't mess it up in a rush because then it will set you back if you make one slip up and you will lose the advantage of your current gpa*altogether. i am struggling to take classes even though i have support. i just had my first child and that alone feels*like*a full time job, but i wish the best in whatever you choose to do! just pace yourself!:thankya:
