I went into surgery and loved it! It was the most awesome and wonderful day I've had since beginning nursing school!
I saw a Lower Anterior Sigmoid Colon Resection w/ appendix removal
A right breast "lumpectomy" (is that the right word?)
and a total hysterectomy w/ appendix removal...
I am so tired that I could just drop, but I have never been so satisfied with any one area of nursing....
Wow. And I didn't really think I would be able to handle it...
I am amazed. Now I have to fight the battle within myself....
geriatric nursing or surgical nursing...
Had to tell you guys! My husband thinks I'm weird and my kids think I'm gross. Who else to turn to but you all?
I just thought it was great!!!!! :D

Julie,
the human body is cool.....I never got grossed out in my surgical rotations.........and that was a "few" years back.........
surgery is not for me, at least at this juncture in my nursing, cause I like the human touch and care of patients(ya know when they are awake also)
your right decision will come and you will be a great nurse......

Wow great experience!!!!!!!! With every rotation we did, that is what i wanted to do. Now that i am three months away from graduation, I think I want to do med surg for a few yrs. I am pretty sure on that one. Surgery was great but, I can't stand still that long:) I really liked ER too. it is really exciting finally having to start thinking about where I want to work.
