GTCC Spring 2017 Program

U.S.A. North Carolina

Just wondering who is applying for the spring 2017 nursing program at gtcc...The deadline is coming up, and I just wanted to get an idea of the point system this semester. Any info is helpful.

Were they accepted that same year or applied another year?

Did your letter say that the cutoff was 35? I'm pretty sure that you can apply with any amount of points as long as you met the other requirements. How many points did you apply with, if you don't mind me asking. Don't get discouraged, I applied last semester and didn't get in. Just keep trying you'll get there.

It said all that got accepted had 35 or more. I read it wrong. But no alternate given either. I applied with 28. I'm going to go back and re-take some classes. Just disappointed. Thanks for the encouragement. And congrats to you!!

When I applied last semester I only had like 30 points. So I went back and looked at what could possibly give me more points. I retook classes that I had made bs or cs in and got as. I also got certified as a med aide because that will give you an extra point ( any medical certification other than cna). I also re took the teas test and did much better the second time. My advice is to just go look at the point system and see what you can do between now and next semester to gain more points. Good luck to you.

Hey I just found this site. I applied for spring 2017 also. I made alternate. My points were on the low side so I wasn't expecting to get in I was just hoping. I'm gonna retake a class and strive for good grades this semester so I can increase my chances of getting accepted fall 2017. I'm gonna also apply to other schools to see my other options. Congrats to everyone who got in! Enjoy that new campus!

Which alternate are you? I have heard that most alternates make it in.

I'm alternate # 16. I don't know how many alternates there are total. I'm assuming 16 is a high # and mostly numbers 1-5 actually get in but im not really sure.. My letter tells me to go to the orientation anyway just incase.

Can I ask how many points you applied with?

I applied with only 27 points. The classes I had taken dont count in the main points category anymore like ACA111 and COM120. But I tried anyway with the points I had. It can be a lil frustrating trying to get into a nursing program but I'm gonna apply again next year.

I have my cma already. I work with an orthopedic surgeon. So I got that point. I'm going to go back and take a&p again and I'm going to do the pharmacy tech classes. They say pharmacology is the hardest in nursing. I figure it'll help me I am only do the spring entry though. I have to work and do school and my doctor I work for is ok with my school schedule

Don't get discouraged, many people apply to both gtcc and Forsyth tech, so there may be several that don't actually accept their seat. Those that are accepted have to accept their seat by October 13th, so I'm sure alternates will start hearing something after that.

You might also consider taking math 152, it's statistics and if you make a B or higher it gives you 2 points, plus if you are planning to get your bachelor degree in nursing later, you will need it anyway. Lol I have been trying to get into the program for a while, so I kind of have the system memorized. Just keep your eye on the point system throughout the year because gtcc is notorious for changing the point system.
