Is anyone applying for Gwinnett Tech's Fall 2011 RN program? I submitted my application back in October (I really wanted to have enough time in case anything happened). I'm still waiting on the initial letter about the meeting for the entrance exam. Does anyone know when we're supposed to get that letter? I know the application due date wasn't too long ago (Jan. 15th) and with the snow, things are probably backed up a bit, but for some reason I thought we should already have word by now.
By "want them to score," I mean I think the college's desired applicant may be those that score 85 or higher because that was the average on the HESI. However, if Skizzal says the average was 84 and someone with the college told her that, that is probably the case, which makes me feel horrible because I studied for months (of course, a lot of what I studied was not on there), and I was only a couple points above the average, and I am an overachiever. :) I am dying to know which question that I had correct that I changed to an incorrect answer, but sadly, I will probably never know. I think all of us should take comfort in the fact that the college must be carefully looking at everything and trying to possibly see if they can offer more slots (as someone stated on here) and possibly waiting to hear about accreditation. Anyway, I hope it's all over soon.
Oh, ok. Sorry, my brain is worn a little thin right now (studying for chem test). Yeah, the test was definitely not like what I prepared for (based on the book the school recommended) either. That was a blessing and a curse...the test was easier than I expected, but I didn't study A&P like I would have wanted, because I was expecting a bunch of stuff I had never learned before (I'm an overachiever, too, so it bothered me as well). It does seem like the decision makers are making a very careful decision, which is a good thing. And I hope it's over soon, too. Being in limbo really sucks.
busylife4me, don't fret. yes my information and source are reliable but remember, your gpa is 50% of your score. and then you get another 1-5 pts for the interview. you both will be okay. i've just decided to stop worrying about it because it's nothing you can do to change your scores. all you can worry about now are the iterviews.
also, there is a student nurse from gwinnett tech that i've been talking to at my hospital where i work that graduates this year. she said that gwinnett received their accreditation a couple of weeks ago. so we are good on that end too! she also highly recommends gtc and said although it is very hard work, the professors are very supportive. we are all in good hands and are going to be okay!!! breathe!!!!
Yeah even though it makes no sense to stress, I am stressed!! :) I think I have worn out my mailbox hinge and checked my gtc email account to the point of exhaustion ( I might even make it my homepage). I have several friends who are graduating from the program now and they all say it is great. I have had the head of the program for lecture before and she is very knowledgeable and real world.
Hang in there. It just cannot be that much longer now. I am having to remember to check here too (in addition to e-mail and mail) because, for some reason, I am not getting updates on this feed. I heard from a reliable source late last week that it sounded like they were really going to get notice to us this week. I did not state that before as I'm trying not to jinx anything. Even with that info, I am still driving myself crazy. I really hate this wait. And to make matters worse, as I drive into work, I pass the new building and think, gee, wonder if they'll finish soon; wonder if I'll ever get to see the inside! :) (I miss the purple color, by the way.)
I overheard someone in my chemistry class say they got an invitation email today. I don't know the person and it was just something I overheard, so all I can say is that's what they said. I haven't received anything (been checking all day), but this person supposedly got the email this morning.

the average was an 84 and it was for the kaplan taken recently, not the hesi. i too have a friend that boasts a nice gpa, but only made an 81 on the kaplan. i was so surprised to find out i scored higher than her. now she's worried to death.... well, who isn't?
