Check in here! :nurse:

When we had a mandatory meeting then said they only look at the pre-reqs. Kamecee is 100% right.

thanks GTC2012. Just looking for a definite answer. Is that so wrong? When you hear this, that, and the other... you just want to be sure that you getting the right info.

@mads1mom I did not take offense. I can just tell you want a definite answer and a student would not be the right source. Either the Dean or nursing specialist would be. That's why I provided the email. The criteria could change without us knowing, so email her for definite answers.

here's where you can tally your GPA. If ya'll have been going to GTC for while be sure to check out the hours. When they converted to semesters the academic hours changed retroactively. So AP1 is counted as 3.33 hours instead of how it is in two classes now with lab as 1 credit hour and lecture 3 credit hours. So that will affect your overall GPA score for the GPA+Kaplan score.

Thanks kamacee! It's always good to have an insider connection ;)

Anytime sweety. :)

@mads1mom: It must be confusing getting so many different answers! Lol.. :)

It is!!! The problem is that GTC has changed their selection process so things that may have been true in the past aren't true now coupled with the q2s change at the same time, well I guess that is a ripe environment for confusion. :lol

hey guys, do you think admissions look at just the overall Kaplan score or do you think they also look at how we performed in individual sections ... Did anybody go to the Kaplan website to view their exam results? I was just looking at the details of my Kaplan results on the site( it shows grades for different sections and when you expand each section, it goes into further detail of how you performed for each section, for example science is further broken down to: cardiovascular system, immune system, fluids and electrolytes, etc...).

Anyways, on the exam itself, the sections were in this order: reading, math, writing, and science. And that is the order that appears on my exam results page. However, right underneath the "scores by section" portion, there is the "Nursing admissions" section and that order is: Math, reading, science, and writing. I am wondering if this is the order of importance the admissions has decided... or is my imagination just running wild? I do feel like I'm about to go crazy with all this anxiety!!!!:uhoh3:

Its the overall score they look at. The Dean specifically said in the meeting that choosing the top 60 would be 1,2,3 because all they do is plug the grades in and WALLAH, the top 60 populates.

@77 if you have a 3.5 and a 87 Kaplan, your combined score would be 87.25. That is a little bit better than if someone had a 4.0 and a 74 Kaplan score, because that score would be a 87.

@77: make sure you figure your GPA though as they retroactively changed the hours when they switched to semesters. So if you received a B in an AP class it is going to be credited at 3.33 hours and if you received an A in a psych class for instance you will also get a 3.33 hours on that. So ordinarily the AP's had a heavier weight to them, the change in their credit hours put them on equal footing with the math, english, and psych classes if you took it on the quarter system.
