GSU Perimeter Nursing Program

Published

Hi Everyone. I need help lol. I am currently taking my preresiquites and I am unsure where to start with applying for the nursing program. I see so many topics here about applying to other programs and that has completely confused me. My questions are; Do I have to complete all of my preresiquites prior to applying? What are "All GSU programs"? What is the reason or why is it important to apply to other programs and if I do, do I have to change schools entirely? When are the deadlins for 2019 and where can I find them because I do not see anything on the site? When is a good time for me to take the TEAS? ETC. Thanks in advance.

Hi iKamille!

The GSU perimeter program accepts applications 2 semesters out from the planned date of entry. The deadline for Fall 2019 program entry is January 31, 2019. You may apply to the program after being enrolled in at least 1 Biology class (Bio 2113 w/Lab). If you have already taken pre-reqs the sciences must be within 5 years of completion.

You would also need to take the TEAS exam and scoring a minimum of 68% (I believe). Go to http://www.gsu.edu and look for School of Nursing, there you will find required pre-reqs, application deadlines and FAQ's.

Good luck!

*I plan to apply for Fall 2019 and will take Bio 2113 in the Fall of 2018.

In order to apply and to be considered for admission, you must:

- be accepted to GSU Perimeter college (as a transfer student in your case)

- complete at least one biology prerequisite (Anatomy & Physiology I)

- submit your TEAS score

Keep in mind that there are many applicants who have completed all their prerequisites already, so the chances are very thin in getting in if you only have less than 1/3 of them completed. It may be different if you are completing your prereqs at GSU Perimeter since the admission committee can access your file and see if you are doing well with your current classes.

What is the reason or why is it important to apply to other programs and if I do, do I have to change schools entirely? When are the deadlins for 2019 and where can I find them because I do not see anything on the site? When is a good time for me to take the TEAS? ETC. Thanks in advance.

If you plan on applying to different programs to increase the odds of securing a spot, you will need to refer to their own admission processes. Most likely, they will all require that you get admitted in the school prior to being able to submit an application to their nursing program. However, you can normally stay in your current institution in order to complete the common prereqs (A&P1 &2, Microbiology, Psychology, Algebra...)

There will be two cohorts for 2019:

- Spring 2019 with an application deadline set on July 31 2018.

- Fall 2019 with an application deadline set on January 31 2019 if they don't change their process.

Depending on when you plan on applying, it would be better to complete the TEAS once you are done with both A&P classes, unless you can set a strict study schedule to learn some concepts you may have not learn yet. However, schedule to take the TEAS far enough ahead of the deadline in case you are not satisfied with your score.

400 Bad Request

Thank you so much. I'll be taking Human Anatomy this fall semester and applying for fall 2019 program. Im currently studying for this TEAs. Good Luck to you!
