GSU Fall 2012

Published

Not sure if there's one of these started already, but it's still pretty far off, so I thought I'd make one. Have any of you guys taken the TEAS yet? If not, where are you taking it? I didn't see any dates listed for GSU.

Your scores are both much more competitive than a lot of people I've talked to in my classes! Hang tight! It really does seem like they're sending out letters in no order at all this year... has it always been like that?

Big hugs to all of you!

Thanks breeze7!!!! :) You're so sweet to think and keep checking on us poor pre-nursing students.. lol Do you know if they look at grades other than the pre-requisites? I have a bachelors in Business that I'm now afraid that they may be looking at since I got some really bad grades at the time.. :( I'm hoping they will focus only on the pre-requisites GPA.. science and program GPA... but now I'm just thinking of all the possibilities... anyway....

Brazilian nurse, dont worry! They ONLY look at pre-requisite grades. I'm feeling kind of down, I have a feeling that I will not be accepted. I got a 100% in the science section but did horrible in English which brought down my TEAS score. Hopefully the rest of you get accepted!

Brazilian nurse & GSUhopeful, don't doubt yourselves. I know it sounds cheesy, but try to stay positive. We don't know what the decisions are yet, so don't think negatively...it's just a matter of time before we find out. And, even if we don't get accepted, that shouldn't stop any of us from doing what we really love.

Believe me, when things don't always work out the way YOU plan, it's for a divine reason. Trust me. Things in my life haven't always gone the way I wanted them to, but you know what, I'm glad they didn't! I am where I am now because He led me here, and for that, I am thankful. Yeah, it sucks to wait for some anonymous committee to tell you what the next step in your life will be, but at this point, we have no control over that. Just know that it will all work out for you, no matter what does (or doesn't) show up in the mailbox. I think all of us will be great nurses someday, no matter what GSU says.:D

GSUhopefulstudent, PLEASE don't give up... Let's try to stay positive as troop949 mentioned.. OMG you did 100% on the science part!!! You rocked!!!!!! What was your overall grade? What is your GPA? I'm sure they will consider this 100% score on the science portion of the TEAS!!! Thanks so much troop949 for your words of encouragement!!!! :) I really appreciate it!!!! It's great to know that there are other people cheering for us... and it's crazy to think that we don't really know each other, but we really wish us all the best and understand what each other is going through. I got accepted at Mercer so if I don't get accepted at GSU that's probably where I'm going.. but it's really expensive.. :( I also applied to Kennesaw (I had my interview last week and I think it went well).. I loved the school but it's too far for me and with my baby I need to think about staying closer to him.. anyway... tomorrow is another day... and I'll keep checking the mail like a little crazy woman.. lol Hope you all have a great night! :) xoxo

I don't know if they give any additional points/weight to how well you performed on different sections of the TEAS. I think they only consider the overall adjusted score. That said, I did really well on the science section (93.8%), but I'm a lifelong science geek LOL. Math was my weakest section, but I still did well on it (86.7%). I really don't think they nitpick over sub-section scores.

The concern I have is my program GPA. It's not as strong as some of the other candidates GPAs (not that I think it's bad at all!). This is my 1st semester at GSU, so the program GPA I have now is based off of transfer credit from my previous degrees. I have some B+ in my science track (physics) which would look much better if they were A's! That kind of stinks, because I'm expecting to do very well this semester (I can get an A or A+ out of A&P I this semester), which would boost my program GPA. I *really* wish they did interviews in addition to looking at scores & grades; I'm a good talker!:lol2:

Oh, and Brazilian nurse, congratulations on your acceptance to Mercer! That's awesome! I've heard nothing but great things about the school. See, you have that as your silver lining in your cloud!

troop949, I still think that your program GPA will get you in! I have my fingers crossed!!!!!!! I agree about the interview.. I wish they had that too. I did the interview at Kennesaw and it really looks like they look at more than just grades. They wanna see your personality, experience, values, work ethic etc.. which makes total sense in a nursing career! As far as Mercer, thank you! :) I will most definitely be honored to be a Mercer student!!! I also heard great things about the program and I'm super happy I was qualified. I'd need to take 2 classes over the summer to finish my pre-requisites for their program, but that's ok.. but really the cost is the only bad thing.. :( but anyway... all we can do right now is to wait... wait.. and it won't be thaaaat much longer... this waiting time will be over before we know it..

Congrats on getting into Mercer's nursing program Brazilian nurse! All of you are very well-qualified with great stats! The waiting will be worthwhile once you receive your letters. Until then, I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

There have been tumbleweeds blowing through my mailbox the last couple of days, LOL. Anybody else hear anything yet? None of my classmates who've applied have heard anything yet, either. I'm wondering if "the committee" DID meet this past Monday, and whether letters have been sent out...we might get something this weekend.

Nope, nothing. I'm hoping that since tomorrow is the deadline for accepted students to turn in their forms that a lot of spots will open up and letters will start coming! I feel like decisions came out WAY faster last year. I guess it's kind of good that I don't know yet, cause if I was accepted I would definitely not be studying hard for my finals in irrelevant classes!

Nothing here either.. :(

Hey guys, I know that nothing I say can ease your anxiousness... but, try not to expect acceptance letter on Mondays to Thursdays. When I was still waiting, I just tried to forget about it on those days. I only expected something on Friday and Saturday.

Since letters usually go out on Thursday or Friday, that would mean that the letter would arrive Friday, Saturday, or Monday (at the latest) if you live somewhere in Georgia.

By thinking about it everyday, it can really get to you... so save yourselves the heartache by not thinking about it! :)

Good luck, guys!

Anxiously checking this thread to see everyone that got accepted status/grades... I have a 4.0 GPA in the program and science with all pre requisites completed but Microbiology which I'm currently taking.. but I have a 83.3 on the TEAS... so not sure what will happen.. fingers crossed... there is still hope, right???

Brazilian nurse, i'm surprised you haven't gotten your letter... with 4.0 program GPA and 83.3 TEAS!

My TEAS score is just one point higher... and your GPA is a little higher than mine... so I find it difficult to believe that you haven't gotten yours yet. Just hang in there, it's probably on its way.

Like it was mentioned before, I don't know if turning the application early made any difference, but I turned my application a week before the deadline. :)

As for troop, hang in there! your TEAS score is relatively high... it MUST count for something... right? :)

HANG IN THERE and GOOD LUCK!
