Growing Up....Why I want to be a nurse

Interested in hearing your thoughts, comments, and opinions.

I am applying for the Nursing program at North Central Missouri College and have to write an entrance essay that can not be more than 150 words....

Growing up I spent a lot of time around my aunt and uncle, both of whom are in the medical field. My aunt is a P.A. and my uncle is a Firefighter; they have always had a positive outlook on life. Often, I would listen to them as they share stories from their past and smile inwardly as I could see their compassion and humanity for people all around. Yes, I want to go into the nursing field to help people but for me this is something more than that. Nurses get the opportunity to comfort and help patients when they are sick or scared and leave a greater impact on those around them. Watching and listening to my aunt and uncle has inspired me to be all that I can be and take this next step in my journey to becoming a nurse.

Appreciate your thoughts and time.

Sounds pretty good to me. Nice job.

Yes, good, and also add something scientific sounding, because you need to be able to put together facts based on science, understand how drugs work in the body, etc. It will make you sound both smart and compassionate. :-)
