I went to Grossmont College along time ago, but I digress....
Unless things have changed in the last few months, the CA community college and university systems are struggling financially and cutting back teachers and courses to alleviate the bleeding. As long as you're accepted and guaranteed classes it shouldn't be a problem, on the other hand ...
I start my program this march. Do you have any words of wisdom for me. What classes did you find the most challenging. What did they teach you in that first transition course thanks. Eugenia:)
I am a 2003 graduate of the LVN-to-RN program at Grossmont. I am living out in Illinois now.Have you started the program yet??? Best wishes to you! It can be tough at times but they really prepared me well.

In the transition class we covered complete assessments (really recognizing heart murmurs, adventitous lung sounds, etc.), along with ABG's, central line dssg changes, IV starts, hanging IV piggybacks, and IV push meds.
I found the whole program to be challenging actually. It's a lot of work, but I can't stress enough how worth it was. I did feel though that go through this program was easier than LVN school. All the professors treated us, as LVN's, like professionals and peers. I can't begin to praise Prof. Tom Oertel enough. I learned a tremendous amount from him. He's tough, but as long as you do the work that is expected of you, he's fair.
Good luck. Keep posting to let me know how you are doing.
Thanks for the heads-up. I think I'll learn alot. I'll keep in touch. Thanks again.

I'm interested in registering for the LVN program, but I have no idea where to register. I've heard it has to be at the school, but I am unsure of the date and time. Could anyone help me with this? Also, I plan on finishing my general ed at Cuyamaca and transferring to SDSU and joining the nursing program there. Has anybody had experience with SDSU's program? Is it worth it?
Thank you for your help.

Good to know b/c I'll have him this fall :-D
To the OP, are you looking for an LVN program? If so, I think you may be looking for Grossmont Health Occupation's ROP program, which is separate from Grossmont College.
