  1. Hi, Groovy Jeff From my understanding it all depends on the accrediating body under which you received your certification. Some wound care nurses work specifically in continence or ostomy care or wounds only. A Cerified wound care specialist would work specifically with wounds no fistulas or ostomies.
  2. Hi, all I'm trying to figure out whether or not I should go to school for my CWOCN or should I just become certified in wound care. What is your opinion? Personally, I like straight wound care, but would I limit myself if I just became certified in wound care?
  3. Thanks, Everyone I was a little confused, I would like to make more than what I make know, but I should probably check around and see what the going rate is for two years of experience. I don't want to short change myself, nurses work so hard for what we do.
  4. Hi, Everyone I have a quick question, soon I'll be look for a new job, I have 2 years of med/surg experience. When negotiating my pay should I go a few dollars higher than my current salary, maybe 2-3 dollars? Thanks, I'd appreciate any response.
  5. Hi Super Nurse JoshuA I think that you made the right decision you shouldn't put you license at risk for a job that won't protect you. I'm in a similar situation the only exception is that I signed a two year contract which will be ending in october. Thank god. What a bad decision I made, but you live and learn. Good luck! I'm sure you do fine.
  6. Hi, Everyone I have a question today I received a flyer in the mail and it mentioned that they pay RN's 38$/hr. Is this possible that's a lot of money most of the hospitals here in Tucson don't pay that much. Does anyone have any experience at any of these longterm care facilities. Thanks.
  7. Hi, all Carondelet has a program through Rio salado college, and Grand Canyon University. I was told that currently they don't have the funds for the BSN program. Carondelet is a not-for-profit hospital so sometimes the funds are there and sometimes not. Hope that helps.
  8. Hi, ky007rnThanks so much for the warm thoughts, I'm sure I will love tucson.
  9. Hi, RNnewgrad I think that you'll be very happy at Scripps Memorial La jolla, I did my training their last semester and it was a really nice hospital. Their ICU training seems very comprehensive. The employee's say that they are treating very well. I think you'll have a good experience. If I would have stayed in San Diego after graduating last June, Scripps La Jolla would be my first pick for employment. Good Luck.
  10. Hi, CardiacRN2006 I agree san diego is a very nice place, I've been here since I was 3yrs old, but I am ready for a change. I just graduated from RN school and I can't even afford a house here. The median price of a house here is around 550,000.
  11. I will be starting at St. Mary's in a few weeks. The temperature over the summers was about 88 degrees here in san diego so it wasn't to bad. We're pretty excited about the move were just wrapping up a few loose ends.
  12. Hi, Everyone I am finally set to relocation to Tucson in about two weeks, and I was wundering what type of advice all of you native tucsonians have for me; such as, things that I should be particularly aware of. I am from california so I know things are very different here. Thanks.
  13. Thanks you guys, I sure appreciate the info, I will probably stay in the northwest area or northeast.
  14. Hi, All I just got a job at St. Mary's hospital and I was wondering if any of you could recommand any good appartment complex's in the area. My husband and I are planning a trip to Tucson the week of Sept 11th. So, I'd really appreciate if you guys could help me out. Thanks:wink2:
