School !
Hi, Groovy Jeff From my understanding it all depends on the accrediating body under which you received your certification. Some wound care nurses work specifically in continence or ostomy care or wounds only. A Cerified wound care specialist would work specifically with wounds no fistulas or ostomies.

School !
Hi, all I'm trying to figure out whether or not I should go to school for my CWOCN or should I just become certified in wound care. What is your opinion? Personally, I like straight wound care, but would I limit myself if I just became certified in wound care?

Pay negotiation
Thanks, Everyone I was a little confused, I would like to make more than what I make know, but I should probably check around and see what the going rate is for two years of experience. I don't want to short change myself, nurses work so hard for what we do.

I Quit!
Hi Super Nurse JoshuA I think that you made the right decision you shouldn't put you license at risk for a job that won't protect you. I'm in a similar situation the only exception is that I signed a two year contract which will be ending in october. Thank god. What a bad decision I made, but you live and learn. Good luck! I'm sure you do fine.

Life Care Centers
Hi, Everyone I have a question today I received a flyer in the mail and it mentioned that they pay RN's 38$/hr. Is this possible that's a lot of money most of the hospitals here in Tucson don't pay that much. Does anyone have any experience at any of these longterm care facilities. Thanks.

Nursing program @ Carondelet in Tucson?
Hi, all Carondelet has a program through Rio salado college, and Grand Canyon University. I was told that currently they don't have the funds for the BSN program. Carondelet is a not-for-profit hospital so sometimes the funds are there and sometimes not. Hope that helps.

Scripps Memorial-La Jolla... what's the buzz?
Hi, RNnewgrad I think that you'll be very happy at Scripps Memorial La jolla, I did my training their last semester and it was a really nice hospital. Their ICU training seems very comprehensive. The employee's say that they are treating very well. I think you'll have a good experience. If I would have stayed in San Diego after graduating last June, Scripps La Jolla would be my first pick for employment. Good Luck.

Relocation
Thanks for your response. Do these hospitals hire graduates who have finished school, but not yet taken their board exam? Here in California many hospitals hire graduate nurses and let them work on what they call an intrim permit which allow them to work as graduate nurse until they pass their board exam usually about 3 months. I'm not sure if they have intrim permits in Arizona.
