Hi all- I finish LPN school in October (I live in Florida right now) I would like to finish school and move to the city to pursue my RN. I have several questions. #1- Is it doable financially to live and work as an LPN in NYC? I am single. What is the going rate for a new grad LPN? #2- what are some of the better RN schools? I have recieved liturature from Phillips-Beth Israel and Helene Fuld (I like the idea of a hospital based program but I am open to anything) Any input on these schools or others? #3-Who hires LPN's up there other than LTC? I work for the VA right now as a student nurse tech and I may stay with them and transfer to get myself up there but I would like to see what else is available. I am really set on moving up there it is one of my dreams just to say I did it! While I am young and carefree I figure why not??!?!?!? Anyway any help would be appreciated! Sarah

Hey all! I just wanted to know if anyone knows about the student nurse technician program at the VA. I was just hired and I am going through my first week of orientation but I just curious if anyone else has any experience with it. Also would like to know how all the nurses out there enjoy working at the VA. Everyone I have met so far has been super nice and friendly and seem to really like their jobs....Is this the norm?
