grossmont &/or city college waiting list

i called last week & they said that letters would be sent out sometime in march, "hopefully" in the next couple of weeks. keeping my fingers crossed...

I don't remember getting the "Are you still interested in being on the waitlist?" e-mail recently. Do they just do that once a year? I hope that you all get it this Fall. I know I still have at least another semester (or two) to wait.

I guess you still are going to enroll even though they don't have their NLN accreditation anymore?

I have got the emails once a year for the last two years. i had to respond before feb 20 something or my name would have been taken off the list. you might want to check your bulk mail or call the nursing dept.They might not have the correct email address on file for you.

If you are waiting for the evening/weekend program at Grossmont you might want to check into other schools. The program is cut for now and may not start back up depending on if they can get instructors to re-establish it. Call the nursing office for more info but I believe my class (started Spring06) is the last evening/weekend class for awhile. The day program takes in 40 but that might change as well. My opinion is that the day program at Grossmont is much more organized. If you need weekend/evening like I do, I think Southwestern opened one up & I think City college has one too!

That may be why you all have been on the list for so long. I waited almost 2 years to get in. I just kept calling & calling the nursing office. Then FINALLY I talked to someone who told me they were just about to call me. There was one spot left and do I want to take it! It was ridiculous, 2 days before orientation.

Just keep calling the nursing office, ask for Christine (she is the Nursing Assistant for the office). Tell her that you know she cant give you what # you are on the list but is it possible that you will be starting in the Fall. They have the list and should tell you if you are close enough to see whether or not you will be starting soon, especially after almost 2 years. Its only March so they might not tell you anything until later on in the summer. But, keep trying.

Sadly 2 yrs on the waitlist is pretty normal. I know some people got in at around 18 mos but that is rare. I know how frustrating it is to wait. After about a year I started getting anxious, so about 2 months before every semester I would start calling the nursing office and try to get any info I could. It paid off because if I hadnt called, they might of given that last spot to someone else!

Letters were suppose to be sent out last week but got held up . Something about mandatory pre entrance testing and the company they were going to use fell through. When they get it straightened out they will send out letters with information on testing and the study guides. Anyone know anything else???

I called today to make sure they received the email i sent in feb. because last year they sent a confirmation email. Well anyway, i asked when the letters were going to be sent and she said she had news about that... that i probably didn't want to hear. I guess the state put stricter regulations on entrance testing starting this year. She sounded pretty stressed and uncertain. If you get any info let me know.

That is true. New students are going to be given an entrance test of some sort. I think much of it has to do with the massive amount of failures we are having. I think they are trying to weed out the applicants as much as possible, which I don't blame them.

I also found out today that i may have destroyed my chances of starting in the fall because i had wrote in my email that i could do the morning or the night and weekend program. Basically, i think they just pushed my application off to the side. She put me down as having a morning preference today and i guess all i can do is just keep my fingers crossed.

why would saying that you could do either program ruin your chances of starting in the fall? i put down that i could do either program too, but i figured that would help my chances more than saying i could only do one or the other.

it's weird that they're doing a pre-entrance test for people that have been on the list for two years. you'd think they'd do that BEFORE you even got on the list so that you weren't waiting for 2+ years just to fail the pre-entrance test.
