I'm sure there is a reason why nursing students are not required to take gross anatomy; does anyone know if it's required for PA's or NP's?
I just finished reading a book on GA and found it very enlightening. I wonder if it wouldn't benefit nurses, especially OR nurses.

At least you guys get cats even!
This summer I am taking A&P1 and we were supposed to dissect a goats eye and muscle. But our class is running so short on time that we will not get to do neither.
I'm hoping A&P 2 will have some dissection. The only thing I have ever dissected was a fetal pig in my sophomore year of high school.
A local private women's college in my area offers a human cadavar as part of their A&P and it is offered to those in nursing as well as other majors like Surgical Tech. But the school is expensive and mostly a nursing college.

This thread is so funny. Only medical people..."WHEEEE, We get to play with DEAD PEOPLE!!!!!" Hehehe
To answer the cat question, they're easy/cheap to get and their anatomy really resembles ours quite closely. It's not a glamorous answer, but there you go.
