Long story short. My nurse manager told me that one of night nurses thought that I didn't like them and my manager said would you please talk to this nurse face to face and settle this issue?
I said sure. I told this nurse I needed to talk to them after report. Ok they said. After report I said what is the problem? They said that they had heard that I complained to the supervisor that they had not scanned the orders the one night a week ago, they had not stuffed the charts, the doctors were mad at me because they had no place to write orders and the 0630 meds were not given. I said that's true I did complain. (this was not a one time occurance with this nurse) This nurse got up and left the room and refused to talk anymore.
I told my nurse manager that this nurse refused to discuss anything with me, to which my nurse manager replied that this nurse was going to file a grievence against me because I had lied to the supervisor about them not getting their work done.
I followed the proper chain of command. What can happen to me if this nurse does file a grievence? They said they can prove that they got their work done, even said others would back them up. When I talked to my supervisor and co-worker they said they would back me up 100%, but also said the other nurses supervisor would back them up. Ok now it's "he said, she said" what now?

Hey, Jersey... PLEASE tell me that before you complained about her, you did bring it to her attention a few times. I'm not insulting your intelligence but I'm from Brooklyn and you Jersey's are a lot like us-meaning I won't be THAT surprised if you didn't give the girl fair warning. But you did give her fair warning.....Right?
Actually I filled out an SOE each time 0630 meds were not given, this was per the direction of my manager and copies automatically go to the CNO.
My manager told me, don't confront, just report.

No idea what happens. Can you ask your manager? Soooo sick of incompetence getting a pass.

Filing a grievence over you making a statement/complaint to a supervisor follows chain of command for the supervisor to follow up on. Not you, and that your supervisor says "the night nurses think you don't like them" is highly unprofessional and inappropriate. Like or don't like has nothing to do with it. Nor should you be in a room with a co-worker and discuss this without a third party present--ideally in a supervisor's office with her present. I would think it the supervisor's job to then look at everything--it is not difficult to see what time meds are given, and if they are on time or not. If it is staffing or a process failure, then the supervisor needs to figure all that out. SHE needs to speak "face to face" with this nurse, not you. If the charts are not stuffed and that type of thing, go directly to charge, show her, and let her do what she will with it. Now with putting you in the positon of a "face to face" situation (which BTW a whole different issue if the the nurse is Union--it could be considered disciplinary in nature, which requires a union rep....) it has started a whole lot of drama. I am sick of supervisors who choose to not do their jobs, and involve others and then wonder why there's so much drama on their floor.
At this point the only thing you can do is to stick to the facts that you noticed all of this, that you brought it to the manager as it affects patient care and you were protecting yourself as the errors were not your own, you followed the chain of command, reponsded accordingly to what the supervisor told you to do. Sounds like a major set up to me.
