Hello!
Me again! Was just getting quotes from international autosource regarding buying a car. They were asking me if I get a greencard straight away or if I have to wait a while or if I even get one!! They need to know as Volkwagen wont finance someone unless they have one.
Could someone enlighten me on this topic please?
Thank you so much
:)

You will get a greencard but initially will be a stamp in your passport and once arrived in the US and have done through immigration after so many weeks, varies in time, you will get your card through the post I believe

Your stamp from the embassy in your passport means you are a resident alien your Green card can arrive any time from weeks to months. Most people get them within the month. But for the purpose you are asking you will be a green card holder

We got financing through VW without one, it was a good few years ago though. I would think your credit rating matters more, we weren't even asked our immigration status when we got a mortgage (didn't even have a green card then)
If you have a home in the Uk I am sure you can buy a house over here really easy.

Our greencards didn't arrive for over a year but we had the resident alien stamps in our passport and then an extension, we got Ford financing but I don't remember it being based on whether we had a grrencard.
We were recommended International Autosource by posters on another expat website, long before OGP recommended them, many of the posters who used them I think didn't have greencards just various other visa's.

what you may find is if VW wont finance you someone else who autosource deals with will, but you may pay higher rates of interest
Thank you for all your replies! Will let them know and see what they say!
