Green card sponsorship in Hawaii

Published

Is it hard to get a green card sponsorship in Hawaii? I am living in Japan now; however, I lived and worked as a RN for one year in Chicago. After I completed my OPT, I returned to Japan; however, I am interested in going back to the U.S. especially Hawaii. Please help me!! I do not know how to start!

hi and welcome

Would suggest start by reading stickies at the top of the page. As you are wanting to go to Hawaii would suggest you start at their BON website and check what requirements you need as a foreign nurse. You say you worked as RN for 1 year does that mean you passed NCLEX? You will also need a hospital to petition you for your greencard. You may find going through N slightly quicker and then endorse to Hawaii. As long as your training meets US requirements you shouldn't have too many problems and if you trained in the US well even better as english exams will be waivered

If you already have a license in the US, you can endorse it to Hawaii.

Yuo will still need to follow all procedures of working in the US that any foreign nurse does, except that since you trained in the US, your English requirements are waived. Do you have a Visa Screen Certificate? Not sure how long ago that you did your training here. You will definitely need to obtain that. Best bet is to start with Hawaii BON.

dear anna

thank you so much for your info. yes, indeed, i graduated from a u.s. nursing school and passed nclex. although i came back to my own country, since i was trained in u.s., i cannot work as a nurse. in order to take the nursing exam in japan, the government is requiring so much paper work. i am working on it, but it is not really promising...if you have more info regarding this matter let me know. i am also interesting working in ca.
