Green card holder nurses

I am already a green-card holder here in the US with authorization to work. I have applied to 2 hospitals online and haven't heard from them yet. I applied six days ago. Is my status as a foreign nurse is making them stop in interviewing me? I have 3 yrs experience in the emergency room, as a staff nurse and charge nurse (1.5 yrs). I have all the certifications like BLs, ACLS, PALS. Is this one of the factor why no one has contacted me yet?

Are you licensed as a RN in the state where you're applying to jobs? If you are, there shouldn't be any issues.

Employers cannot discriminate against green card holders as green card holders have full authority to work in the US. I think there might be some exceptions, such as in the military (VA hospitals).

It's very common to not hear back from anyone after you applied. Apply to as many jobs as you can. There is no nursing shortage in most areas these days, so jobs are hard to come by. Good luck.

I agree with the above poster widen your search not every application will get a response... keep applying and apply to more then one position

Also, HR in all hospitals moves at a glacial pace. It's very frustrating. Hang in there and good luck!

It never was an issue for me, and I've held several nursing jobs since I arrived 31 years ago. If you have an unencumbered license in your state you should be good to go.

Like others have said, it depends on the job market and how well your resume stacks up to everyone else's. Good luck.
