Oh Sawyer I agree with Prisi-get your CNA work 1 day a week if you can or even per diem if u can and honestly the cost is a lot less the accredidation is a HUGE thing to consider especially considerin it is not exactly very easy to get a job right out of school as it is.. AND ya you would definately be ahead of the game for 2010...Take the NET the first testing date so you know that all the spots are not filled up.....and if you can save up some money in the meantime...I am partially nauseated...I just handed over a check that was my life savings...I was you Sawyer not but 72 hours ago and that is what I was going to do..I tried looking up other schools as well but its just not worth it at all... But it is a good solid plan..in the meantime do what you can like me and Prisi said ((HUGS)) everything happens for a reason..I honestly believe that...

class is day after orientation - the 26th! The clinicals Ive been thinking about and I am scared to death! Fear of the unknown...I do not know what to expect but I cannot wait to meet you guys so we can support each other... I just hope to God they are not like "do this" and leave you alone and then someone else like a nurse tries to order you to do something else....I only say this because my coworker finished her clinicals and that is what happened to her!! One time she was stuck in a closet where they keep the bedding for 30 minutes! I would die! I can embarass myself easily when I dont fully understand something..and I mean easily hahahaha

Prisi - I looked for MPI on the MA board of nursing and it was on there but I didnt read the fine print about it only being in the initial stages of accredidation - I knew it was too good to be true!!! Thanks for mentioning that so I didnt lose $17,000 and a year of my life!

JMarie - I am sticking with the plan. Ive already signed up for an A&P class at North Shore CC and I am going to take the CNA class - actually GLTech has one so I will prob just do it there. MR Y said that I wouldnt have to take the NET again since my scores were so good - he said just get some experience so thats what I am doing.

I'll keep my day job for now and maybe work as a CNA one day a week or so.

GOOD LUCK to you guys who are attending GL Tech and keep on posting. Prisi - keep me updated too!!

Prisi - are you applying to GL tech for the first testing date? I am not sure if I will be done with my classes by then so I dont know if I should wait for the second date so that I have everything finished. I am scared to wait past the first date tho because I want in!!!! Maybe I'll just sign up for the first date and then just explain my circumstances.

Sawyer! YAY!!!! That sounds awesome!!! I am sooooooo happy for you that you dont have to take the NET again your score was almost perfect!!! And they have the a&p class there? Oh ya definately and then you dont have to take that course when in program and save yourself a huge 48 hours to study other things! I think whatever date you decide 1st or 2nd you will be fine I think the last 2 or 3 test dates is what makes it more competetive and he knows you now..and you are reapplying so you really do want this..and you will be going with healthcare experience..And we can keep you updated with everything so you will be soooo prepared for next year!! :) You have a great plan!!! Please keep us posted with you throughout the year with your cna and schooling and everything!!! ok gotta go to heroes now...

ok so update- Went to Heroes.. There is a rack with scrub styles and colors and sizes. I just got the 2 tops and bottoms and lab coat. $108. The lab coat and I am not trying to be fashion police on medical attire but the lab coat is ugly! I really want a different one! Well I forgot to ask if you can purchase emblems but for some reason I do not think you can but if so...I might ask to cancel the lab coat order...It just reminded me of when an elderly lady is feeling a draft the little jacket she puts on..hahahahhaa I am purchasing my steth, scissors, and books on Amazon. I have decided on a Medical Prestige Clinical 1 Steth in Purple. If they are going to get upset over the color than i'll deal with it but it shoud be fine. I have to go back to Heroes to pick it up. I thought it was going to get shipped to me...All the uniforms are processed at one time and they are all going to be ready on August 24th.

Jmarie - with all the things you gotta get done you're certainly keeping your cool and you seem to be very organized!!! Good for you!!! :smokin:

Sawyer - YESSSS I will certainly be taking the NET on the very fist testing date. You mentioned that they won't make you re-take the test so I might ask if I can skip out on that as well. Either way, I want to know by the end of this year whether or not I'm in. I think they start taking apps as early as November??? At least I hope so!!

Anyway, I'm also applying to Shawsheen Valley's LPN Program. They have a 100% pass rate which is great, they're about the same cost as Lowell Tech, and they have an awesome rep. So if Lowell Tech doesn't work out I'll have someting to fall back on. Lowell Tech is my first choice though.

You should look into that school!!

Does anyone know if we're required to wear our uniforms during class or just clinicals only?

Prisi - Where can I get some info on Shawsheen? The website seemed out of date for the LPN program. What I read sounds good tho - its a bit closer to where I live than GLTech. What is the nln test?

JMarie - you are like a tornado getting things done.....good for you. I am taking a&p at North Shore CC and the CNA course at GLTech. Keep posting you guys....I love hearing about your experiences!

Are you sure about wearing the scrubs in class as well as clinicals????? I thought I was told that we only wear them to the clinicals. I think I may call today and double check.

Sawyer~ I looked into Shawsheen Tech this year as a back up plan and I had to email them a request to get their application. I think at Barnes and Noble they have a study guide for the test that they offer.
