there was a woman i went to nursing school with.
she was dx'd w/breast ca and needed a mastectomy.
the evening before her surgery, she circled her breast and w/marker, wrote "remove this breast" with an arrow pointing to the circled breast.
no room for error the way my schoolmate did it.
and even if grandma's way isn't legal, there's no room for error in trying to determine what she wanted.

Mary Wohlford said she knows people might find her tattoo amusing, but her motive is serious. She'd like people, especially young people, to consider what might happen if their wishes are unclear.
Excellent! This is a bold way of getting others' attention in an attempt to spark dialogue and inspire people to make their wishes known. A novel way to educate and I admire her for it. How many times have we seen people have their (verbal) wishes ignored or seen people rescuscitated and tortured only to eventually die anyway just because the family did not have the guts to let them go?
