Grayson County Fall 2011

Published

So I have applied to Grayson County's fall 2011 ADN program and haven't seen any threads on here about this. Anybody else waiting for acceptance? Hope it's not too long of a wait, I'm on pins and needles!

Thanks a lot for the info; it was very helpful. I can’t wait to start the program.

Good luck.

how do you already know you were accepted?

Are you applying for LVN or RN, the acceptance letters for RN go out before the LVN.:)

ok that makes sense :) I applied for LVN

I got into Grayson nursing for fall 2011. I am nervous about the program and would like to have an overview in term of classes and the amount of study. Do we have to be in class everyday? Also, if anybody coming from Plano please let me know if we can do car pool. I would like to ask previous nursing student about their experience and any suggestion.

:nurse:Thanks

I just spoke to one of my friends that just finished her first semester of nursing school at Grayson. She said that you also have to attend lecture classes on Monady and Friday from 8-3pm in addition to the days that you register for. When clinicals start, those two days drop. And when clinicals stop, those two days pick up again.

She said we would be told about it at orientation. I just wanted to give you a heads up, since I was not aware of this when I told you before. Have a great weekend.

Wow, I wasn't expecting going everyday to class especially that I will be driving from Plano. Hopefully, it wouldn't be that bad. Thanks for the info I appreciate your feedback. I am working now on the paperwork (CPR, medical...):)

I just heard this same thing. I'm glad that I found out before orientation though, since I have to plan for childcare. It sounds like we will be in class everyday except Tuesday until clinicals start (which I was told by Joanna Barnes is about the 2nd week in October.) Oh and someone told me that we will have a test every two weeks for the first six weeks! WHEW!!! I'm already anxious!

I am starting the program for the fall, I have only been able to look at the spring syllabus for 2011, and if it is similar, it looks like class is 3-4 days a week in the beginning and then when clinicals start, it is 5-6 days. That is only what I think. I am not from this area either and don't know anyone in the program, but I am soooooo excited! We are supposed to find out everything we need to know on orientation day, but it isn't soon enough for me! My name is Michele Richardson, I look forward to meeting you!

I have the complete set of LVN books for Grayson for sale. Whatever the total cost of the books are I will sale mine for half that.

Anybody comming from Plano, Allen, Mckinney, please let me know. I am looking for carpool. Thanks

Does anyone know what we will need to buy and when we need to have them for the ADN program?(stethescope, penlight, etc) I won't know anything until orientation Aug. 5 and I am trying to put up some money for the extras that will be needed. Also does anyone know about scrubs and how much they are and where to get them?If anyone has any helpful info about anything, I will appreciate it!:D
