Thanks : )
I have been an RN for about 4 years. No need to wait that long though! I had some personal things that kept me from doing this - otherwise I would have applied to ER after about 1 year or so. It all depends on how quickly you feel comfortable to be honest. If you can't get hired in an ICU training program right away, I would get a year floor experience and re-eval how you feel. I may be wrong, but from what I understand you specifically need ICU for the CRNA school. Check into that though, as I heard that when I lived in Florida - may be different where you are.
Good luck to you!
Welcome! You are among friends. You were wise to get floor experience before going to the ER. I once tried to precept a new grad in the ER. When he chose a 30cc syringe to give a 0.5 cc injection I knew he wasn't gonna make it. He went through 3 preceptors before they offered him a choice of a floor job or the street. He was really devastated, and I can't help but think he might have mae it had only done the floor first. Good luck with the new job. May all your orders be legible, your patients compliant, and your physicians in a good mood.

I am new to this site (as far as posting stuff) - so forgive me if I don't know all the etiquette. I just figured out facebook haha. This is not really a question or anything, I am just very happy to have finally landed an ER job! I have had a lot of ups and downs and doubts with nursing. I got into nursing to work in the ER - but wanted to get a foundation on the floors first. I am nervous and excited. I know the flow of the ER is much different than floor nursing - as to which one is more difficult? Guess that depends on the individual.
I have really enjoyed reading the posts on here, it really does give one some insight as to what goes on in the ER. I think I will fit in just fine, as I thrive under pressure. I also enjoy a challenge (I must, I did traveling for a bit = thrown to the wolves!).
Ok done rambling, just wanted to kind of introduce myself - and say how excited I am to join the world of ER nursing!
