Grand Canyon University RN to BSN Reviews

Howdy all, I bit the bullet and after much research, I decided on Grand Canyon! Wow, I did not expect BSN schools to be like used car salesmen--hounding me by emails and phone calls. Rather impressed on how Grand Canyon sort of left me alone, but at the same time kept in touch.

Commence my first class Sept 30th, excited, yet very nervous, as I'm not a big fan of school, LOL! I did extremely well on my Associate degree, graduated back in 2009 from Northern Virginia Community College. We shall see.

Would love to hear from past and present Grand Canyon RN to BSN students.

Someone actually used one of those sites in their references....I'm thinking that noise I heard soon after was the professor dropping her score SMH!!!!!!!!

We would see them too and a nasty gram would soon follow! LOL.

Winter..clear out your pm box. :)

I am so excited. CLC Part 1 for Ethics is done. We were able to cut it down to 1143 words. Hopefully our instructor will give us a break on the overage. I ran the paper by a tutor and she agreed that the words needed to be there. Keeping fingers crossed.

Can anyone give me the scoop on Trends? I am taking it 2 classes from now and would like to know what to expect.

Hey Y'all, how is everybody?

I am enjoying STATS up until now...."ANOVA". It's gonna lead me to drinking. Who in their right mind had this much time on their hands and came up with this type of testing?...Alright, done venting, for now.

I have been busting my but to maintain my A ave and then last week, I did the unimaginable.

I was sleep deprived and thought I turned in all my work and on time. I was wondering what was taking so long to grade my wk3 excel assignment. Well checked my grade on Wednesday just to find out that I had not pressed " final submit". But wait, it gets worse, I then get an email response from instructor, stating that I had submitted the wrong assignment!!! What the FRIDGE!!!!

I clicked on the link that I submitted only to find out that it was wk 2 excel. I couldn't believe it!!! I was balling, just so upset at myself as to how I could do such a horrible mistake!! :arghh: AARRGGHH!!! I emailed him back at what had happened and I was like frantically looking for the completed assignment (I was so scared that I might have deleted wk3) I recovered it some how and turned it in to him through his email. I told him and pleaded that for what it is worth if he could at least go over it and let me know if the work is good so like that I have an indication that I am understanding the lesson. :(

I felt awful!! But I can't do anything about it now. But pray that they have mercy on my A. I have an A in STATS y'all. I find that awesome...

So now we are on ANOVA...enough said. :yuck:

Yikes! I have nightmares about making those types of mistakes. Hopefully they will understand the stress of Statistics on top of the stress off every day life has pushed you to your breaking point. My guess is that this happens quite often, but we just don't get to hear about it. Good luck!

Wellll...dust off the IOM again. Yes, it's baaack! LOL.

Otherwise, I had to reflect on my own nursing practice, study how a bill becomes a law, and understand advocacy. It was rather dry, but I did learn a lot. There is a CLC too, sorry, lol.

Ugh, sorry to hear that. I do think they are forgiving for the most part, especially if you aren't asking for a grade, but wanting the assignment to be at the very least looked at for mistakes, so you can learn.

Let us know what he says.

Thanks Tokmom! So far I am down to 2 classes left that do not have a CLC. Fortunately the instructor that I chose for Trends is the same instructor that I have for Family right now and she is wonderful. She will let you request your CLC team, doesn't stress about word count and is really flexible. That is why I chose to take it out of order. It can't be any worse than Stats in the dry department, so I am kind of looking forward to it.

Does anyone remember how they formatted their Family Assessment paper for Family Nursing? My instructor is MIA due to a very sick daughter and she hasn't answered my question from 2 days ago. What I am wondering, is did you use subheadings for each of the 11 assessment areas, or did you just write up the assessment in paragraph form? I have to write this tomorrow and I have no idea if/when my instructor will be able to get back to me. If anyone remembers this assignment, I would really appreciate your input.

What week is this?

UPDATE: I did a level 1 heading that says family interview and then did level 2 for the 11 areas. The wellness diagnosis has a level 1 heading and then I broke that down a bit further into level 2 and finally conclusion (centered) :)

I should've thought of that, I just started with Introduction (which now I know should not be titled), and I just did level 2 headings allllllll the way down. Started with Family Interview, then Health Perception and Health Managment, etc. Then centered the Conclusion. Your way makes more sense :bookworm:

Isn't it weird that you write these papers, look a them 1,000x, turn them in thinking they're as perfect as they can be, and then when you re-read it you find stuff you see right away that was wrong? Bizarre. Maybe our (my) brains are so fried by TII time I can't even add 2+2 anymore :cyclops:

Thanks guys. You saved my life - still no response from my instructor.

Tokmom - I was planning to do it exactly as you described, so I know I must be on the right track.
