Graduation: Before or After you finish?

My school has graduation in May, even though I will finish my program in August. Does your school do this? I really don't like the idea of walking to get my PENDING diploma..:o I will love graduating with my class no matter what, just thought it was strange.

It does seem kind of odd to me too.

I know, it's kind of weird. Look at it this way: you are walking for the YEAR you are graduating!

I know what this is like, I finished up one degree in Dec of 2003 so technically I was with the class of 2003 -- and my graduation was held in June of that year. Since I had worked so hard for so long for that degree I was just thrilled I could see the light at the end of the tunnel and that I was walking with "my class." Just look at that last couple of months as just being some "loose strings" that you're tying up!

Our school has winter graduation...we can march in December if we graduate after June.

It does make me feel better when i look at it as graduating for the year I attend school. I never looked at it that way. I just like closure..

The only down fall would be if you paid all your fees etc and walked and something happened to prevent finishing. UGH that's pessimistic:o forget i said that.

Thanks for the replies..
