Congratulations to you as well Glad2baSN!!! Pinning isn't until May 11th. Graduation is May 10th. I doubt I'll walk for graduation since my last name starts with a W and they call us out individually...it's just too many people plus it doesn't start til 7:00pm!
Have you applied anywhere yet?
Since I'm a career changer, I've already experienced a long graduation ceremony. So, I'll be skipping our Commencement service as well which is in May.
The only positions I've been applying to are PCA/PCT postings, because I heard they'll hire nursing students/graduate nurses. Getting one of these positions can turn into an open door for hire as a floor nurse. So that's my plan. After I've passed the NCLEX, I plan to apply out of state to better my chances.
I'm not really a career changer but I am however a 2nd degree student. When I graduated, we had both departmental commencements and a commencement for the entire graduating class where they basically called us by departments and had us stand up. We didn't even walk across the stage for the larger commencement ceremony!
I want to make sure I understand what you're saying. Are you saying you're applying for personal care assistant/tech jobs instead of Nursing jobs although you're graduating in May?

It has been a LONG journey but I finally made it. Took my last exam of my last semester of nursing school and PASSED!!! Words can't express how excited I am to be graduating considering at times I thought this day would never come. Especially after being denied admission in the beginning and then failing my first semester the first go around! I've also been offered a job!!! So many doors are starting to open for me! I would like to thank each and every one of you who offered words of encouragment and advice to help me get to this point. I wish you all the best of luck in all of your future endeavors!!! Next stop, NCLEX-RN!!!
