Graduating in May, where to work?

I will be be graduating this May 2011 and am undecided about which hospital to pursue for employment. Anybody able to help me with this?

Any idea which of the major hospitals in SE Michigan/metro Detroit pays best (new nurse starting wages)? Which has the best benefits? Which has the best pension/retirement plans? (St. John, Henry Ford, Beaumont, Mount Clemens Regional Medical Center, DMC)

Any info appreciated! Thanks!

Apply to all of them. Every interview I've been on they've given me salary and benefit information to take home so if/when I get offers I will be able to decide.

mt clemens supposedly pays really well since they are union. they rarely have postings though. i assume their benefits are decent too. st. johns is decent pay, not sure about beaumont. it’s probably comparable. i know that b’s insurance is on the high side though. i always thought that the dmc paid the lowest but several of my coworkers that came from henry ford said hf was lower. not sure if it is true or not. on the other hand, dmc has really cheap benefits compared to others.

To SnowStar4: Cheap as in inexpensive (out of pocket) or cheap as in not so good?

To the OP: I'm not sure which is best. I've heard various things from various people. I've personally been a patient at Beaumont and was impressed with the quality of care I received. That said, I think I saw that many of their postings wanted experience. I have a few classmates who have externed or worked as nurse aides at St. John's and they all had good things to say about them.

Good luck! :)

Cheap as in out-of-pocket
