Graduating in May with FPMHNP!

Nursing Students NP Students

Hello guys,

I am graduating in May with my FPMHNP (psych NP). I have two job offers and I am planning to accept one of them. Eventually, I am planning to move out of state but that state requires certification while NY doesn't. I have few questions.

1. Should I accept the job here and start working as NP and continue to prepare for my boards?

2. Should I move to out of state, and start preparing for boards?

3. If I continue in NY, what should I do once I have certification? Should I start looking for a job out of state and once I get a job, I transfer my license and resign from the job?

Thanks for the input in advance.

Since you are depending on random online post to plan your life path, I will take a stab. Stay in NY, why you ask ? No real reason.

Hi Andy5, I live in NY and I graduate next May with my PMHNP. I am also thinking of moving out of state at some point. I think getting your RN license in the state is the first step. Then applying for your NP license plus you need your number for prescribing. I plan on starting to study for my boards this summer, as I want to take the boards asap after graduation. I think starting the ball rolling as soon as possible is key. Everything is also very state specific and I am still figuring out much of the details out so I could be way off base, but that's how I plan on approaching it.
