i'm just starting my last semseter of an adn program and hopefully will be done in may...would love some advice on what i should start doing as far as work... i'm slightly discouraged as seeing so many posts re: new grads having a hard time getting a job in the boston area (which is where i live). as far as my resume goes i've only had waitressing for work experience.... and of course my clinicals. anything you guys would of liked to of been told b4 hitting the "real world" so to speak? any tid-bits would be excellent.:clown:

thanks,

naynae

Just graduated two weeks ago and my advice would be to start looking for a job early(two months before graduation). Try to make contacts now either by working as a tech if you can or during clinical. It has been a bit of a struggle for some of my classmates to secure employment. Where would you like to work?

Shine at your clinicals this semester if you haven't already. Make friends with the staff and let them know you'd love to work with them. Take small gifts (food) to any other areas you've been to and loved, let them know they were appreciated. If there are positions, they will come to you!

I'm not to sure where.... I am thinking about going back to school for my BSN, so ideally somewhere that offers a great tuition program....but I'll take what I can get.... Thanks for the advice!:lol2:
