graduated, now what?

So I now have an MSN in Informatics. What do I do now? I do not want to be an EPIC builder/trainer. My organization is not funding a lot of positions yet. I have a contractual agreement to stay for a while related to tuition assistance. Not that I want to leave anyway-love where I work. Just have to come up with a position. I think I need to create my own.

Specializes in EMS, ED, Trauma, CEN, CPEN, TCRN.

Just wanted to say congratulations on your achievement!

Congratulations! I'm happy for you! I'm enrolled in MSN program and curious about Informatics. It's exciting! You will get a long-term career there! You will!

Specializes in Clinical Informatics/IS Analyst.

Congrats! I graduated last year and thought I'd have trouble finding a true Informatics job. Got lucky and landed a role in Clinical Informatics in a large teaching hospital that has job duties including teaching, build/design, testing/validation. Our department works closely with IT/IS. It's been awesome, although the learning curve has been steep. Hang in there and don't give up. If possible, look in large teaching hospitals or an EHR company for Nursing/Clinical Informatics roles.

Good Luck

thing is I am AT a large teaching hospital. I am working on trying to find a way to kind of create my own position. I volunteer on most of the informatics committees; getting to know everyone. I really don't want to be an EPIC builder but do want to know more about that end of it.
