Graduate Nursing JOB

Published

I am a new graduate nurse seeking employment. There was one job that I applied for because I am passionate about it. I waited for them to call me for an interview for a month. Today I found out that they do not want to hire me. I was heartbroken but I have now moved on. I just found a few positions that just got posted a few minutes ago and I am especially interested in working in the HIV/AIDS unit. How can I make sure I am called in for interview this time around???? I do not have any networks or connections to the jobs. Am I at a disadvantage???

Honestly, yes. Besides nursing school, do you have additional health care experience? If not, can you prove your work history contributes to your success as a nurse? (Critical thinker, hard worker, compassionate etc). Unfortunately, I am starting to realize myself without decent work history it is hard to be noticed as a new grad nurse without inside connections. Definitely try to network and get to know people even if is outside your comfort zone. Also, have someone look at your resume to make sure it highlights your most desirable attributes. Good luck.
