Graduate Entry Nursing school question

Published

I have two questions I want to ask

1. What's the difference between taking the GRE and MAT for Nursing school. How many Nursing schools will accept the MAT than the GRE. Will Nursing schools allow the MAT instead of the GRE

2. In terms of GPA, do Nursing schools look at the overall GPA or the last two years of College and how many Nursing schools factor the last two years as oppose the overall GPA.

What is the MAT? Simply go to the websites of nursing schools you are interested in and review their admissions requirements.

Nursing schools look at your overall GPA, but will focus more on your GPA within nursing prereq classes. If you did poorly your first 2 years of college, but then did well the last 2 years, that does look better than doing crappy all 4 years. You can address this in an essay or interview.

To the best of my knowledge, most schools require the TEAS or the HESI.

The GPA question depends on your intended nursing school. One of the ones I applied to only cares about pre-reqs, the other looks at all coursework.

The OP is talking about grad school. For graduate school, you have to take different exams for entry, such as the GRE.

OP: I've never heard of the MAT, but I just took the GRE and it honestly wasn't too bad.

Good luck!

It is specific to the school. There is not one universal standard of what hundreds of schools require. you have to do some investigating.

(The MAT is the Miller Analogies Test; it's another standardized exam that some graduate programs use for admissions rather than, or in addition to, the GRE.)

What I am asking is about the Millers Analogy test and do Nursing schools take the MAT over the GRE. I have heard some Nursing schools accept the Millers Analogy test over the GRE

Why are you asking us? We are not nursing school admissions officers. You have repeatedly been told to check with the individual schools you are applying to. This information is right on the school website for every school. Honestly, if you are incapable of doing this, then you should not be going to grad school.
