Hi all !
I have been looking to see if anyone would start this thread - then I decided I would do it ! I currently have a bachelor's degree in Sociology & Spanish going back for nursing! I took my prereqs at Gwinnett Tech and Georgia Perimeter over the last few years. I applied back in October and the waiting has been hard!
Wanted to hear from some other people applying for next fall!
Thanks for that information. I heard from someone high ranking at GSU also that their RN-BSN program is also easier to get into because there are no clinicals. The clinicals make acceptance hard because very few students are admitted each term to successfully complete them. I'm glad we got into GPC, so once we do our RN-BSN, it's not as competitive!
Does anyone have any insight on what to expect? I wonder if this whole Georgia State Perimeter College thing has changed the nursing program???
I heard some Fall 2015 students complaining that they lost a few clinical sites during the preconsolidation period. Hopefully, they have worked out the rough edges. Honestly, I don't think GPC will be accepting students for their Associate degree program AFTER Spring 2017 admittance. One of the notable professors at GSU Perimeter College stated how aggressive GSU has been during the merger. He says GPC instructors attend the GSU consolidation meetings, GSU listens to what GPC has to say, and GSU does whatever they want to do in the end without considering GPC'S imput. With that being said, I think GSU may get tired of duplicate Nursing programs and end the GPC Nursing program soon. I'm glad we were able to get accepted just in case they decide to make that change. I wouldn't be surprised, since GSU has taken over everything. I just hope that it doesn't affect the QUALITY of our nursing education. Unfortunately, alot of hospitals are starting to only accept BSN graduates anyway, so that may be GSU'S way of discontinuing our program..Obviously, that would be after we graduate.

I spoke with someone in GSU's nursing department about the RN-BSN program. They told me that they haven't turned down anyone who's met the requirements. I think that because it is all online, admission into the program is pretty easy. I also spoke with Diane at GPC's nursing program, and she told me that in our first semester, we'll have class once a week (at Clarkston campus), sim labs the other days (Dunwoody campus), and our clinicals. I was told that once we submit our photo and acceptance form, they will start letting us know of what we'll need to do prior to starting the program. Hope this helps!
